Once the installation is complete, the installer will instruct the customer on how to use the system. Depending on the option you choose, security systems may include an event-triggered alarm, live surveillance, an assortment of indoor and outdoor cameras, motion sensors, door and window sensors, recessed door sensors, glass break protection, and crash-and-smash protection for their control panel. You can also opt for environmental protection, such as carbon monoxide, flood, temperature change and smoke sensors, as well as a panic button and an emergency alert button. New for 2022, ADT security systems feature the Google Nest doorbell. The highly-rated device features HD video and two-way audio. It can also tell the difference between people, packages, animals, and vehicles. Not too concerned about the neighbor's cat hanging out on your porch? You can customize the Google Nest doorbell to only alert you to the events that matter most to you.

How much does ADT Home Security cost?

ADT offers five security system service plans to choose from: Basic ($28.99/month), Secure (45.99/month), Smart (49.99/month), Video ($56.99/month), and Complete ($59.99/month). Plans require a 36-month minimum contract. Additionally, in the event of early contract termination, ADT may require the client to pay 75% of the monthly charges due for the balance of the first 36-months. The company does offer a 6-month money-back guarantee and a limited warranty for their products (restrictions apply), but overall, ADT seeks a long-term commitment from the customer.

To help protect customers against the cost of unexpected service calls, ADT offers extended limited warranty protection, called their Quality Service Plan, or QSP. While ADT's electronic technology is designed to meet the highest standards, no manufactured equipment is 100% perfect. QSP adds additional coverage some customers might prefer.

ADT has invested in upgrading to the latest wireless technology to help protect your home and keep the installation process as streamlined as possible. Like many newer systems, ADT wireless security systems rely on radio waves to connect your home’s cameras and sensors to the control panel.

In addition, ADT operates six monitoring centers. In the event that your assigned monitoring center goes offline, a security breach or call for help from your home will be automatically rerouted to the next available center.

The ADT Essentials plan for basic digital monitoring service has a limited warranty on parts and labor, something that other competitors do not offer. If you want additional protection, the Essentials Plus package includes 2-way voice monitoring. Like all plans, this one includes monitoring for police, fire, and medical emergencies. However, both plans require customers to have access to their own landline phone.

Customers who do not have landlines can opt for the ADT Secure plan. This plan includes monitoring for police, fire, and medical emergencies and add the peace of mind that comes from knowing that an intruder cannot cut your home’s landline. There is an ADT protection plan for all budgets and needs.

ADT Home Security systems are very user-friendly, and during installation, the technician will show you how to use the equipment. There is technical support available to answer any questions customers have about the equipment. ADT offers professional installation, several monthly plans with competitive rates, and allows users to choose between wireless and hardwired systems. Keep in mind, though, that customers must sign a three-year agreement for all ADT security monitoring plans.

I didn't have the best experience with ADT. I moved and had to take my device with me due to the contract. When I moved the installer did not inform me that I had to call in once a month to check and see if my device was working. My alarm went off a couple of times and I was not contacted by ADT. When I called them to find out why they hadn't called me (luckily they were both false alarms), they said I hadn't called in for my monthly device check in. I thought that was utterly ridiculous. Customer service reps have been snippy and rude and we were tempted to break the contract but rode it out. I will never go back to ADT nor would I recommend it to friends or family.

if its up to ADT I'm sure this review wouldn't make it in the list of reviews. Buyer Beware of the Switch and Bait ADT quotes to you over the phone. had the installer come out to install and wanted (as per ADT request charges) 899.00 more that what was quoted by ADT representative when making the appt. Thank God i didn't give her my Credit Card number as she wanted prior to me talking with the installer first. ADT is a rip off sorry to say and its not a sour response, i just don't like being taking advantage of. please check with the installer before you give ADT any kind of money. i don't like to see anyone being taking advantage of esp. other senior citizens like me...

I live far out in the country and response time is quite a while for the local sheriff's patrol. My decision was to go with a well known brand of security. Our neighborhood has been experiencing quite a bit of theft and tampering with equipment outside and I felt that with that going on I had better get a good security system from a good company. The salesman that sold me the system was great ...and installation was prompt...the techs that came to my home were very congenial and thorough . Then in two or three days my wife lost her security remote key fob. I called first the techs and asked about getting another and was routed to ADT central and told that another fob would be 200... We have been with ADT for 25 years and not once have they ever contacted us or checked on us or the system. The first time the system activated no one responded. All they seem to be good at is cashing the check. We are replacing them.

ADT is not providing the service, they outsource the services to other companies. As a result, nobody knows who you are and when problems arise, there is nobody to speak with you. You run in circles, and ADT does not want to discuss anything with you because they tell you to contact so and so. The equipment is outdated, large, visible and ugly; It does not fit in the modern home. Customer service is rude and lacks knowledge.

I was on hold for over 35 minutes to find out why the tech has not arrived to service our equipment which frequently fails and leaves us with no monitoring service. Reported 10 days ago and yesterday was first available appointment. They postponed until today between 12 and five. Now said it could be as late as 8 PM. Now want to reschedule for next available which won't be until next week. And, they increased our monthly fee a few months after I paid to have new equipment installed last year and was told I was locked in for 2 years. Terrible customer service but generally dependable equipment. System went down, called ADT made a repair appointment. No one came out. Called the following day and they had no record of my call or the set appointment. Very disappointing. Changing companies.

Worst customer service. Monitoring center never call for alarms. Service department schedule appointments and never show-up. Previously was a Devcon user and never had the problems that I have with ADT. They are only interested on how will take more money from you on every opportunity. Looking for a real monitoring service company.
