Ackerman is the worst. Ackerman's equipment, one of its sensors, failed in my house and they wanted to charge me $90 to fix it. I refused and sent a letter terminating my agreement with them. I also removed all of my payment information from its site. They charged me anyway today. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY!
I'd put zero stars if I could due to their predatory cancellation policy. I moved out of my house over 2 years ago, and notified them via phone at that time. To spite repeated requests to cancel the notifications and the account over the phone, they kept sending me phone calls and texts about "alarm outages". And I just found out that they've been charging me for monitoring this whole time! I asked if they could provide at least partial credit since this is obviously an error, but they said they could not. BE ADVISED: Apparently, in order to cancel the account, you have to ask to be transferred to their "Customer Loyalty Department" and request that they email you a form. The form has to... Read More
Try to cancel - they continue to bill you. I called to cancel 10/10/18 and as far as I knew they cancelled my account. I kept getting billed. I called to bring this to their attention and fully expected them to refund my money and stop future charges. NOT. I spoke to a girl named VALERIE who was rude to start with - she told me that I couldn't cancel by phone, I'd have to be mailed a form to fill out and send back to them. THEN she said even when I did that I was stuck in a "recurring" contract until May 2019! I have never received any notification of this "recurring" contract, I wasn't sent a copy of this contract AND I didn't sign this contract. This seems to be a common... Read More
I cannot express how much I dislike this company. The sales reps will tell you anything you want to hear to get you to sign a contract. We knew we would be retiring before a three year contract was up and moving to an area where Akerman does not service. He said no problem, the contract would be voided. Now that time to move is here I find out that they are “so sorry, but I have to buy out the remainder of my contract”. I have asked to speak to supervisors who are always away from their desks and will call me back. Horrible. We've had them for a year now, and it's been nothing but trouble the entire time. First, just getting our system set up and working properly was a nightmare. It took 2 months and 3 different technicians to finally get it working. Then, two days ago our alarm was triggered at 7am. Ackerman called to make sure we were ok, and when I replied that I wanted them to dispatch the police, they wouldn't do so unless I gave them my passcode. So I hung up on them and called the police myself. After I got off the phone with 911, I noticed I had a voicemail on my phone. That's right, Ackerman called back and left me a voicemail. You get what you pay for with this company. No thrill home security survey by extremely professional and knowledgeable staff. Most of the site visit involved getting to know our lifestyle and concerns. The walk through of our residence provided how to achieve optimal goals without breaking the budget. Phone customer support needs additional improvement leading me to list score lower than outstanding.
I was really happy with the prompt service I recieved when I called. Also the great price per month for our security of our home.
