I've been with Kaiser since the 1970s and today's Kaiser bears no resemblance to the original Kaiser. Other than your primary care MD, appointments are absurdly hard to get. Two to four months is typical. Kaiser needs a complete shakeup of upper management. I will be leaving at the next open enrollment period.

Kaiser just updated their communication system and it's been a complete nightmare. You can't communicate with your doctor like you used to, records are being lost and the staff seems extremely confused in executing the simplest of tasks. In the past few months, something has else has occurred (besides the comm system change). It's extremely difficult to get an appointment, lines are incredibly long and staff is extremely irritable. It feels like some high paid executives decided to make changes and have no idea how to run the ship. Do not sign on to this insurance unless you absolutely have to.

As of 1/1/22, we switched to Kaiser. We can see none of our doctors, kid’s meds were changed to generic without warning. She experienced major side effects and we now pay out of pocket for her original meds. I’ve spent in excess of 7 hours on the phone since February trying to schedule an eye surgery. Ive had the same surgery done on the other eye through Aetna. I know how this should all transpire. I’ve seen a really nice doctor for 15 minutes, was told that I’d be contacted in 2-4 weeks to schedule pre op, surgery and post op appointments. I waited 5 weeks before calling because I don’t want to nag. It’s officially been 8 weeks. I’m told weekly when I call that I’ll be contacted but... Read More

The white receptionist refused me from doing my routine labs prior my meeting with my PCP, saying labs are by appointments ONLY. I had the email from my PCP stating appointment not required but she refused to read. My PCP told me that routine annual labs are free, but I am billed for the routine annual lab and every effort to explain to agents on kp chats ain't giving a damn. My PCP refused to see me in-person, but I think that as a new patient, seeing me for the 1st time means she will get to know me then subsequent meetings virtually may make sense, but she was bent on meeting me only virtually - to me this is lack of empathy. I ain't gonna renew it - never ever.

I am a teacher most of my paycheck went to Kaiser. I thought they would take care of my husband. He went many times to many doctors they all said he was fine. They did no testing they brushed us off. The only thing they cared about was getting paid. On Aug 31st, 2021 my husband of 30 years died of quadruple endocarditis. The cardiac surgeon diagnosed it in 30 seconds with one symptom. Night sweats. It was a slow-moving bacteria that if caught in time may have been treatable it ate his heart valves. I went to have a conversation at Kaiser and was told "we are so sorry for your loss but we aren't going to change anything." If they had tried to save him and failed I would have understood.... I am a first time Kaiser member and all I needed help was to get a Member Card so I know my Member ID, which I need to make appointments, I called 4 different numbers that they have online and my first call was horrible, the guy literally hung up on me, the second time was answered but they redirected me to another number that did not work so it hung up on me again, the third time, a lady answered and just hung up on me, fourth time, yes you guessed it right, hung up on me again, so as you can see, Kaiser is the worst hospital to ever be a member in, I'm hoping Kaiser will fix these issues since they are a big company, they get millions of money from Tax payers and has the worst service... Nurses and staffing directors are striking in support of the Kaiser engineers, while neglecting patient care and still getting paid. Why can't people just do their job, be grateful for their jobs and quit complaining when they are so blessed. This greed has to stop. Life is challenging for everyone one, and there is no reason to spend time purposefully making it worse because you want more for free.

I had a Kaiser gastroenterologist set up Sunday appointments for me when he was promoted to director of the hospital. One time he thought of a question and ran down to x-ray to ask the radiologist and ran back. When there was a shortage of livers in L. A. Kaiser sent me to the Mayo clinic in Florida for a transplant.

The actual doctors and nurses are good, but they are nearly inaccessible. Getting an appointment for anything takes months and getting anyone to respond to a basic message takes forever. Kaiser Permanente should be avoided until they have adequate staffing levels.

Leaving Kaiser Medicare Advantage after a few months of frustration. Much the same as others have expressed. Hard to communicate (Maryland). Hospital has to route all calls and does not answer the phone. Call back does not work. No direct lines. Would not cover second opinion for possible pacemaker. Minor surgery turned into minor assault. (The procedure seemed to be 3 times that necessary but have not been able to get the pathology slides for independent analysis.) Wanted to treat high blood pressure on basis of 2 office readings when outside readings show borderline to low blood pressure. Cannot get another dermatology appointment before leaving, probably a backhanded plus.
