I have a claim with Kemper because of and accident that was the fault of their insured. As I was dealing with them to resolve it, I requested the claims adjuster's supervisor contact information. I was given the information of an employee that no longer worked in claims. I am still working to resolve in a reasonable way my claim.
They can't add. At present with the COVID-19, I made a double monthly payment to buy me some time to make some money to pay for my 6 month policy. Kemper took my Double monthly payment and billed me the next month. Quite obviously they are Not rocket scientists!
An awful company! My son had hail damage on the roof of his FJ. The vehicle is very tall and he didn’t notice it for 6 months. When he reported it he was told they had to investigate the claim. The investigator, Sandra Nelson, called and left messages and text messages for me. I gave my son her name and number and he called her repeatedly. Her mailbox was full and wouldn’t accept any messages. The last time she texted me I gave her my son’s number and told her to call him directly. She never did. Amazing that an adjuster (the person who is able to help) doesn't have a voice mail box. The most simple tool for conducting business. The floor manager "George" who lives in India will happily ignore your conversation and then direct your call to the person with no VMB. The claim adjuster Amanda will not call you back for 3 weeks, because she doesn't know who is calling. When you call her boss, "Christian," you will wait as well. There is no person who wants to help. They are just trying to get their paychecks and go home. It shows.
Kemper Auto insurance will only give you the run around. Do not expect them to pay. No insurance would be better than this.
Stay far away from Kemper if you can. They have the worst customer service for any insurance I have ever dealt with. They will jack up your rate for any claim even if your not at fault. they are slow at returning phone calls. They will accept any claim against you and increase your rate even if you have every supporting document (Police reports etc) to show that your not at fault. they may be a little cheaper then other insurance companies but you will pay more in the long run. I wish I would have never opened a policy with them. Be warned.
Horrible customer service. I've been trying to get a hold of my adjuster for days now, and I just learned that he is deliberated ignoring my calls. I called the claims phone and tried to get his email so I could try to communicate with the adjuster through email, the customer service guy literally said he could not give to me and hung on my face. stay away! I filing a BBB report against them right now.
They need to work on their customer service. I was hit by one of their insured drivers. Just to get a hold of them is a hassle. They send you to voicemails. After finally getting one of them on the phone asking for a rental because I needed to work, the guy said just get the rental and send me the bill we'll cut you the check. I tried asking about the injury claim and was told the same and that they'll determine if they will pay the bill or not and auto repairs and he was really rude saying "you claimed you were going through your insurance, your insurance is Mercury, this isn't Mercury so deal with them." I called customer service because I had a issue with my payment . Apparently they charged me two times with in minutes away from each other I logged in and the session apparently ended I then checked my bank account and I wasn’t charged so I went back into the website and payed my payment only to find out I was double charged but I only received one confirmation number . I called to let them know and they are horrible the First Lady said it was 4 mins apart . First of all I was letting you guys know they double charged me . I sold a car to a wrecking yard. Notified my agent of the sale. Took forever to jump through all the hoops with Kemper to prove that this had occurred. In the meantime, they sent my final bill to a collection agency. I knew I would owe something and would have been happy to pay. I had always paid in the past on time. Never received a bill. Very poor service. Unethical. Hope they go out of business.
I was involved in an accident where a driver abandon their car after they hit another car and left it in the line of traffic on a rainy day. I might add that their car was driveable but they left it. I came down over a bridge going approx 25-30 MPH (5 o'clock traffic) and with no place to go hit them. It took six months for Kemper to resolve this without ever contacting me of their findings. The only conversation that the adjuster had with me is that the other party had hired an attorney in the event that I received any documentation; of which I didn't. I have had no updates or assistance after being rear ended about a month ago. First car accident, cant seem to do their job and back up their insurers or get the job done when witnesses have been provided. Currently locked out of my car, it took 3 separate phone calls to actually confirm that someone was being dispatched to me after the first was cancelled (as that road side assistance provider didn't do lockouts) and no one made me aware. They will tell you your car is covered for up to $75 for roadside assistance but will make your life a living hell and provide you no information on what isn't covered, what the cost would be or a supervisor's full name in case you need assistance.... Got rear ended by some one stoned at 9:30am and kemper my insurance company made my life a living hell for me to have the medical care I needed. I was paralyzed on my left side and could not left my left arm and they still sent me to their IME's who deemed me good to go back to work. I would not recommend you choose this company to have your back when you need them. I don't even have a bad driving history not sure why my agent chose this terrible insurance company.
The customer service is one of the worst!!! every time I need there services it can take up to half an hour to answer, and most of the time I just give up waiting. Will never buy insurance from this plays. TERRIBLE SERVICE!

HORRIBLE INSURANCE COMPANY!! HORRIBLE WHEN IT COMES TO A CLAIM! I GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT THAT WASNT NY FAULT.. BEEN PAYING FOR FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE, COME TO FIND OUT I DO LONGER HAVE IT. AND NO ONE WILL CALL ME BACK REGARDING MY CLAIM EVEN THO IT WAS NOT MY FAULT!!!! PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! THE CLAIM REPS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I had to make a claim 2 weeks ago.I have yet to have someone contact me. I've currently been trying to get ahold of someone and keep getting put on hold for over thirty min to which I hang up. I work full time and do not have time to wait all day. I'm not sure what the outcome of this will be, but this is a bit ridiculous!
Horrible! Great at taking your money but horrible with a claim! Even the repair shop said they don't know what they are doing. Going back to Progressives! The discount is not worth the trouble.
