I bought travel insurance to cover a cruise I booked for my family. After I we got home, I almost didn't file an insurance claim because it was only for $208 for a visit to the Carnival Cruise Line's medical center when my son got ill the night we were returning to Miami. Submitting a claim was a reasonable process but I was certain there would be a long process and waiting period while they worked with my primary health insurance and would need to wait for all types of different documentation to go through. Followup review. After many emails insisting that I should be entitled to a refund and involving my attorney, Trawick did relent and agree to refund my payment. It was harder to receive the refund than it should have been but, due to the intervention of management, Trawick did do the right thing. I’m giving the company a somewhat higher star rating.
Trawick International is awful. We booked a Viking cruise about two weeks ago. The cruise will embark on 3/31/2024. It was a financial stretch but doable. We purchased travel insurance using Trawick through SquareMouth on 2/17/2023. On the SquareMouth site is was suggested that we could cancel for a free refund by 3/18/2023. I called Trawick to cancel on 2/27/2023. They denied my request because I was beyond the “10 day window” for a refund. Sure enough, if you dig into the underwriting documentation it says you actually have 10 days to cancel. We purchased travel insurance for our family for a trip in February 2022. The morning we were leaving for the vacation my daughter woke up vomiting and could not fly with us, she felt better and joined us the day after. I made a claim when we returned home for trip interruption to cover the extra expenses to fly in the next day and the day she missed at our all inclusive hotel... we waited 7 months and they kept saying they needed more information-I provided all information and receipts. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I think this company may be a fraud. It's been three months since I filed a claim, and I've had nothing but the runaround ever since.
A fraud!
My dad had an accident February 2021 while visiting me in the US. I keep receiving bills from doctors because Trawick is unresponsive.
Calling customer service is a pain. If you are lucky, they may answer after a 30 minutes wait only to say that you need to submit more documents.
They always promise to contact me in a few days, they have never done so.
I submitted in April receipts for expenses done out of pocket... again, no response.
I have used many travel insurance companies in the past, and Trawick is absolultely, without doubt, the worst. They do not resond to claims and refuse to pay out. STAY AWAY!
I've had two Safe Travels Explorer Plus policies and made claims on both. In both cases, no communication from company. I'm now awaiting results of the second claim which was filed nearly two months ago. They blame the sluggishness on COVID, but... two months? I'm getting a new insurer next trip. They're cheap - and now we know why. They've no intention of paying claims or even letting one know they've denied it.
I regret my review of 5/3/2021. True, I tried three times to call them and kept getting a call volume message and no human. However, they did email within a day and I was able easily cancel the policy within their 10-day grace period. They seemed to have the best prices for medical (COVID) insurance required to enter Costa Rica. I can't find a way to delay my first review, so in fairness I am posting this follow-up.
I purchased their Safe Travelers Voyager insurance a few minutes ago and their certificate does not have the information Costa Rica requires for tourists, specifically that it cover "pandemic events and COVID-19". I have tried calling numbers to cancel and no one answers. I think I made a huge mistake. Policy is cancelable within 10 days, but how, I can't even get them to answer and no callback yet.
Purchased "Safe Travels First Class" Policy for $1700+ premium and cruise line canceled our May cruise(and refunded our cruise cost payments) so our trip never occurred. Trawick International won't refund insurance premium for cancelled trip or provide any consideration for insurance coverage for future travel(extension or credit); Terrible way to treat its customers but great way to increase its profits. They tell you that you had to become ill with COVID-19 either before travel or while traveled to be covered! They want you to buy their cancel for any reason coverage for 3 times the cost--avoid this company!
My Experience with this company is horrible. I filled my claim in Oct 2019 and submitted all documents that they need 10 times. Today is July 2020 and my claim is still pending. Every-time I call customer service same lady Brittany or Elizabeth picks up the call. Give me the same status that my claim is pending with processing department and refuse to provide any update. I felt cheated as they don't seems genuine to help you resolve your claim. I am gonna do my best to explain same story to every one because this company should not be doing business if they are not helping people with their claims.
