Overall Rating: 4.3 / 5 (Excellent)

LifeShield short-term health insurance plans offer consumers affordability and flexibility. The company operates in 30 states, including Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, and Pennsylvania, among others. LifeShield offers two short-term health plans to choose from: Lifeshield Advantage and LifeShield Flex. Both plans offer coverage for preventive/wellness care, diagnostics services, inpatient hospital services, ER, urgent care facility, and ambulance services. Additionally, the company offers limited coverage for mental health care, substance abuse, and physical, occupational, and speech coverage, which is great, since many short-term insurance providers don’t offer coverage for these.

Like most short-term health plans, LifeShield’s plans don’t cover maternity or newborn care. However, unlike other providers, LifeShield doesn’t provide any coverage when it comes to outpatient laboratory services or x-rays. Additionally, the company doesn’t have an online member portal for account management or a mobile app. Customer support is provided via email or over the phone. That being said, although LifeShield offers affordable short-term plans, with flexible terms to choose from, its plans are much more limited than those offered by other providers reviewed by us, so we encourage consumers to do some research before purchasing.

This company lied and twice told me that my family doctor was included in my plan. Imagine what happened when I arrived at my appointment and was told that my doctor is not part of my insurance. Life shield is a crooked company and should be forced out of business.

I signed for LifeShield to get health coverage in February 2018, knowing that was a short term insurance, they included Ally RX and Freedom Platinum, which you don't know what are. Agents don't explain that in the monthly amount that you pay are 2 payments for discounts in RX (US$29.93) and Freedom Platinum which is a life-accident insurance (us$75.00). When my husband and I called for the Health coverage, nobody told us about these 2 payments that even though you don't renew the policy with LifeShield, you are still charge for them because you have to cancel them separate from LifeShield. Nobody tells you about that. You will be charge in your credit card and pay it for and you don't have... Read More

Do not purchase this insurance. Claim submitted in February. Insurance company made four errors processing a simple claim. Customer service is the absolute worst of any kind of company--insurance or otherwise--that I have EVER experienced. And in the end not one dime is being paid.

One of the worst consumer experiences I have ever been through. Despite high premium, they have yet to pay ONE SINGLE claim we've made-- all of which were clearly within the coverage guidelines. Even the insurance broker who we used to purchase this healthcare insurance has thrown in the towel, and seeking damages.

This is a bad deal. Buyer beware!! You will pay and your claims will not be paid. The customer service is the worst that I have ever experienced and they will give you the run around so that the claim in not paid. The customer service people can't even tell you the proper address to send the "additional" information they are requesting. I have a very strong feeling that this is a scam and I am going to have to send my attorney after them in order to get any movement. Do not get this insurance!

It is a horrible lack of coverage, They send documents that state you have 30 day review time and then when you call 15 days after receiving the hard copy of materials. They tell you can't get a refund because the my benefits keeper website had the information about the 10 day view period. Did you inform me to review the website, too. No!!!!
