Pets Best Insurance Services, LLC is a Boise, Idaho-based pet insurance company that covers dogs and cats for accidents and illnesses, and also routine care at additional cost. The company was founded in 2005 and carries an A+ grade with the BBB. Pets Best specifically states that their mission is to end economic euthanasia of pets.

Pet's Best is absolutely the worst insurance carrier. Everything is a pre existing condition. The representatives with whom a person speaks is rude, unprofessional, and have no customer service skills whatsoever. Run away from this company and run very, very, very fast!
This is insane. There are FAR too many bad reviews to dismiss. I signed up for PetsBest but I'm still within the 30 day trial period. I wanted to provide the best care for my dog, but PetsBest will not be the way I go now. The editor even felt the need to point out the bad reviews to readers (And I thank him for that). Warning bells are going off all over the place. They need to learn that reviews make or break a business and when your business dealings are shady and littered with loopholes, then it comes back to haunt you. Stay away from this insurance company. It's great at first but they will give you the run-around at any attempt to file a general claim. They make it near impossible to get reimbursed and send you through hoops so that you will likely just give up. At the end they will argue "pre-existing condition" and violate their own policy to avoid paying claims. Highly disappointed with this company considering the amount of money I was paying.
It makes me very unhappy to see the negative comments about Pets Best. I have been with them since 2004. I insured my Saint Bernards with them and my cats. At one time I had 9 animals insured with them. I have had many claims, sme totaling nearly $10,000. They have paid fully the amount the policy said was covered. No run around and no BS. Their Customer Service people have always been polite and compassionate. It is not their fault if people don't read their policy and know what it covers. Reading the policy is important! Then you know what is covered.
I'm one of the "lucky" ones that got a denied claim because of so BS this company spews. They are not interested in customer service at all. We got your money so F you is what you get. I have noted that not one of the responses from this clown Isis G actually showed anything in the client's favor. Just more run around and rhetoric but nothing accomplished. Liars and Thieves. DO NOT go with this company. They will not reimburse your major claims. They are are scam.
I have been with Pet's Best since 2010 and left for 4 months because of a divorce economics and now I am back. I can't say ENOUGH GOOD THINGS about them. They process claims immediately, are helpful and compassionate on the phone and their rates for the same coverage elsewhere are much less. I think some who have left neg comments here have situations that no insurance company would have tolerated. I am not returning to Pet's Best and I am so relieved to be back with them. I know them well and highly recommend them to all.
As an insurance agent, I feel morally obligated to urge anyone reading this to NOT purchase from Pets Best. I have had MUCH better luck with Figo (and I can't even sell policies for Figo since my company is contracted with Pets Best). In my personal opinion, this company has got to be the WORST pet insurance company on the planet. After my claim was denied, I reviewed my policy and the "What's not covered? See a FULL list here". No where was it mentioned that this was an exclusion (infection post de-claw). They blew my concerns off on the phone and I subsequently filed a small claims case. I had signed up for a quarterly insurance with pets best on 7/7/2017 for a quarterly insurance. While signing up for the insurance i had provided my card information. Yesterday my card got automatically charged for the insurance for next quarter, but there was no email or any information given to me regarding the automatic payment during the end of the time. This is a shock to me and when i went to the website the site didn't show that my card will be automatically charged in the payment section or any where else where a normal user access the site. With Pets Best, its all about the Money. Pets Bests after many years with them missed a payment and then submitted that payments for many month after they decide to send my check back in a blank piece of paper with no explanation. I guess that is how they do business not taking time to explain. Will not recommend this company!
I am not surprised to see all the one star ratings. I have been with them a number of years. But when I went to add a new dog there was a problem - not with the dog, but with Pets Best. I sent a formal complaint to the Department of Insurance. We deliver 10-15 puppies per year. We will not be recommending this company. The customer service and policies are terrible.
After reading the reviews of others who have had huge price increases after fiuling a claim I have decided that Pets Best is not a company with which I want to do business. Pet insurance companies seem to be able to get away with every one of the most objectionable practices that have led to regulation of the human health insurance industry.
Believe it or not it costs about the same amount for my each of my college age children's insurance with significantly better coverage than for my dog who is perfectly healthy. I have had PetsBest for my 10 year old small mixed dog since 2012 with a maximum $5000 coverage. My premiums have tripled in 5 years. I have submitted one claim in the five years for $730 ish and I have a $500 deductible so I have only gotten roughly $230 from the company. The claims process was easy, but this year they want $1200. It seems to me that they are increasing the price so much each year to discourage people from keeping their aging dogs on the plan. I dol not recommend this plan.
Prices have doubled in two years... Plus $100 deductible,plus copayment. I mean. I was paying $100 this year and I just heard from them and they increased it to $150....Based on number of claims? Really? I rather have a savings account for my Dog. If they do not offer someting better and reasonable, I am canceling today
So here is an update to my review of Pets Best and there business practices. My mastiff who tore her ACL had the insurance increased from $46 to $76 in a year and Pets best tries to convince people that they don't increase insurance based on any recent surgeries but to age/geographics blah blah blah. Well my mastiff had to go back for surgery 8 months later due to the vet who performed an incorrect procedure on her. (thats another story) Pets best covered 80 percent of cost which is what insurance companies should do considering I pay almost 77 a month for her insurance, decided to increase my insurance to $126 dollars starting in June. My second response to Isis G who has been giving the "official response" for Pets Best. A third reason NOT TO PURCHASE pet insurance. Isis G reiterates ". We have offered the appeal option. At this time please contact us at 1-877-738-7237 with further questions or concerns. That name along should make one be cautious. Thus I did. Once they get your money you are not allowed to talk to anyone but the nice sweet voices who answer the phone and in all probability get paid far less than the people in the claims department who you are NOT ALLOWED to talk with, even when Isis G responds to your review posted on this site. I want to reply to PetsBest response of my review. Specifically their statement: " A diagnosis of a toxin is covered by our accident policies as long as there is a confirmed substance that caused the toxicity. However, medical records indicated the vet was not sure what was causing the symptoms. During Tiff's 3 day stay at the ER, the doctors informed me that statistically 60%-70% of the time a dog comes in with her symptoms they will not be able to determine the toxin, just treat it. Before you pay for any insurance policy, you may want to consider putting the premium and yearly deductible in a personal savings account for your pet to use when needed. Another important consideration is to find a pet insurance company that has no waiting period (or the shortest one you can find). PetsBest takes your premium and makes you wait 14 days for any illness and 3 days for accident. Unfortunately our 6 month old came down hurt/ill on the 8th day of purchasing the policy. Diagnosis was toxins which one may think was an accident as both the family vet a ER ruled out congenital problems with the liver and focused on household poisons. I’ve been with this company since 2012 and over the past 3 years my premiums have doubled. I have two cats, one is 5 and is healthy, the other is 13 and contracted diabetes 2 years ago requiring insulin. PetsBest has been very good with reimbursements. However based on the level of increases that have taken place over the past two years, I’m guessing that my premiums will negate any benefits on the monthly insulin prescription within two years. The level of increases for my 13 year old is theoretically far beyond that of my 5 year old. I have used this company for a few years now and not only did the premiums practically double, now they are being cheap on payback. Even if you had one large bill, they still break it down and pay you back what they see fit.
Buyer beware! My premium went from 36.00 month to over 66.00 month in just 3 years! Never saw that coming.
Not sure how to rate this-- I had coverage for one year with this company. My dog had a skin infection while covered. Initially, they covered his visits and prescriptions and I was very pleased. My vet prescribed a special temporary prescription diet--they refused to pay because the plan excludes food. The vet said he needed weekly medicated baths until the infection cleared. These baths were performed at the vet's office with a prescription medication. They refused to pay, because they don't cover "grooming"..There was no discussion...even though this needed to be done (if it wasn't, they would have paid out much more for additional meds and visits--not smart on their part). Get everything in writing ASAP. I got a policy and then within the first month I told them I need them to get records from my dog's veterinary office's so they can tell me what is my dog's pre-existing illnesses because their brochure does not address my dog specially. Their sarcastic customer service kept referring me to the brochure with a customer service rep by the name of Laura sarcastically told me I need to "gamble". I explained that if they would tell me what they deem pre-existed for my dog while the policy is new I would be able to choose if I want to keep the policy. One year into this plan, very first claim filed, to find out that the medicated bath (part of the necessary treatment for my dog's skin condition) performed at the vet's office is not covered, because it's under "grooming". I am rather disappointed with this policy, and now I'm not even sure if I want to continue with this insurance or not.
Definitely not the best option out there. I found a health insurance provider that covers the same as pets best, plus they had the Wellness option included in the same amount per month that I was paying for my pets best policy without the Wellness option.
