Founded in 2012, ManyPets is a global insurance agency that gives pet parents access to comprehensive, customizable accident and illness pet insurance policies. The company has just begun a major rollout throughout the United States with coverage underwritten by Accredited Surety and Casualty Company. Overall Rating: 3.9 / 5 (Very good)

ManyPets is a newcomer to the US pet insurance market. The company has garnered several awards for coverage and customer service in the UK and is bringing that same degree of quality to the states. Offering a convenient, fully digital experience, their policies offer two stand-out features.

First, the company offers an accident and illness plan with no annual, per-condition, or lifetime benefit limits. This means that even under the worst circumstances, ManyPets policy-holders can make sure their pets get comprehensive, sometimes lifesaving, treatment without finding themselves unable to afford it.

Second, ManyPets covers some important costs and pet health problems that some insurances don't, including exam fees and dental illnesses.

ManyPets Coverage

Coverage - 3.8 / 5

ManyPets offers coverage for accidents and illnesses. The company covers the wide range of services your pet may need including diagnostic procedures, emergency care, surgery, hospitalization, prescription medications, and more.

Like most pet insurers, ManyPets places coverage restrictions on pre-existing conditions. However, unlike many pet insurance providers the company will cover a pre-existing condition if your pet has been symptom- and treatment-free for 18 months. The company is also a little more liberal when it comes to certain conditions that may be entirely excluded from some providers’ policies, including cruciate ligament issues and problems that occur bilaterally.

ManyPets offers a sample insurance policy on its website and we were impressed by how plainly it is written and how easy it is to understand what's covered and what's not.

Benefit Limits

Benefit Limits - 4 / 5

ManyPets stands out for not imposing annual or lifetime benefit limits. To our minds, that adds up to one of the most significant benefits of all: knowing that, come what may, the cost of treatment for any covered accident or illness, will not prevent pet owners from giving their pets all the care they need.

Reimbursement & Deductibles

Reimbursement - 4 / 5

ManyPets allows pet owners to choose their copay amount (that is, the portion of your vet bills that you pay out-of-pocket). You can select 90% or 70% coverage.

ManyPets uses an actual cost reimbursement model, as opposed to a usual and customary model. In layman's terms, this means that whatever your vet charges you for service will be reimbursed, minus your annual deductible (a once-a-year fee) and your co-pay. This is especially important for pet owners who live in major metropolitan areas, where veterinary costs tend to be higher than average.

Maximum Percent Reimbursement

Deductibles - 4 / 5

Pet owners can select a policy deductible that suits their budgets. Higher deductibles lower monthly premiums, which puts affordable pet health insurance within reach of more pet owners.

Maximum Deductible Offered

Pricing: How much does ManyPets cost?

Cost - 4 / 5

We used our standard model for checking policy costs, requesting a quote for a one-year-old, male mixed-breed cat and a one-year-old male golden retriever. The cost of insuring our golden retriever through ManyPets was considerably lower (more than $10 per month) than costs quoted by other companies for a metro Chicago retriever. (Currently, you can only purchase ManyPets coverage in Illinois, Arizona and Texas.) The ManyPets monthly premium cost for our sample cat falls in line with industry averages.

Starting Monthly Premiums

Dog: Sample Monthly Premium, 1 year old male Golden Retriever in zip code 92683
$29.91
Cat: Sample Monthly Premium, 1 year old male American Shorthair in zip code 92683
$12.28
Rate Details: Annual Deductible: $500, Benefits Cap: Unlimited, Reimbursement Model: Actual Cost

Enrollment & Waiting Periods

Enrollment - 4 / 5

You can enroll your pet in a ManyPets policy beginning at the age of 8 weeks, which is standard for the industry. However, the company will only insure pets until they reach the age of 14.

Claims & Service

Extras - 3.5 / 5

All ManyPets policies cover exam fees for covered illnesses and accidents. ManyPets policies also cover the cost of euthanasia and cremation. Both of these features are unusual in the pet insurance industry.

I WISH I WOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN THIS THEY LIE. THEY TRY THERE BEST NOT TO PAY FOR ANYTHING. THEY SAY THEY NEED MEDICAL RECORDS FOR 18 MONTHS PRIOR. IF A CLAIM IS FILED IN 2/2023, YOU FIRST STATE YOU NEED RECORDS AT LAST A YEAR PRIOR.BUT A PERSON DOESNT HAVE THEM CAUSE THERE PET WAS IN GOOD HEALTH THE YEAR PRIOR.THAT WOULD BE 2022. SO THEN YOU SEE WELL I MIGHT HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING SO NOW IN GOING TO ASK FOR RECORDS 18 MONTHS PRIOR TO THAT, THAT WOULD GO BACK TO 9/2021. WHY ARE YOU DENYING A CLAIM FOR A 2023 INJURY ON THE OPPOSITE LEG CAUSE SHE HAD AN INJURY ON THE OTHER LEG IN 32021. MAKES NO SENSE AND YOU LIED TO ME ON THE PHONE SUPERVISOR CAUSE YOU SAID THE PESON HANDLING THE... Read More

Very bad insurance because of increased rate and they make you pay an extra month if you want to cancel. Be aware of the small writing and do not trust them!

Do you have a Dr. Oliver working there as a vet under your insurance plan? Because if you do you are scamming all your customers. She's a butcher and deserves to have her license removed worldwide. The suffering & death that trails behind her is nothing short of tragic. One dog especially comes to mind, Jenna! She butchered a simple fatty removal on Jenna then left her lying in her own draining infected pus. Then lied about Jenna's condition to her owners, telling them she's "doing fine, & just needs a few more days to heal". By the time that Jenna's family came to get her & take her home she was dying. Her bandages were filthy, not having been changed for days! The family rushed her to... Read More

I picked up Manypets last year to cover my 6 year old Chihuahua. I liked the price point and what they covered and there was only 1 pre-existing condition that they wouldn't cover. This year my dog developed cataracts and had to have them removed. They have paid everything that they are suppose to pay, which has been several thousand dollars over my monthly rate. If I decided to cancel tomorrow (which I'd be stupid to do it), I could have had thousands of dollars of vet bills paid for by Manypets for a few hundred. The repayment process has been painless and I've only worried once after the $5000 surgery, which they paid me back 90%. I will be a customer of theirs forever. Every pet... Read More
