Overall Rating: 8 / 10 (Very good)

FamilyTime is loaded with features, some of them quite unique, like alerts for when a teen is speeding, a pick-up button that gives children an easy way to tell parents where they are, and a way to bank phone time for later use. Although it does not currently filter out offensive content from the internet, the company announced in March that they plan to add this feature soon. According to the FamilyTime, it will give the parent the ability to force SafeSearch on web search engines, restrict YouTube videos based on age-appropriateness, block access to specific websites, and restrict searches using certain keywords. The introduction of social media monitoring, however, has not been discussed and the lack of it remains a big drawback on an otherwise great app.

Features & Services - 8 / 10

FamilyTime offers an impressive list of features, including phone scheduling, selective app blocking, and some truly unique services like “SpeedAlert,” which lets parents set a speed limit and alerts them if the teen drives over it. It misses the mark, though, by not having social media monitoring and or filtering/blocking of offensive material on the internet, both of which are big potential security issues. In March 2018, the company said that filtering and blocking of offensive content is in the works, but social media monitoring has not been addressed.

familytime Customer Experience

Customer Experience - 8 / 10

FamilyTime is not listed with the Better Business Bureau. It is rated by TrustPilot, where it obtained a fairly low (5.3) score based on over two dozen reviews. Although they obtained some excellent reviews about their user-friendliness and their tracking features, negative reviews mentioned problems with billing practices and on how easy it was for kids to uninstall the app.
