This company is sneaky in how it says no contracts, cancel anytime. After 3 years of use for my elderly mother in law, she went into a home. I called prior to the renewal date and said I wanted to cancel service. The representative told me how to package and send the equipment back. I did all of this prior to the renewal date. Because the company did not receive the equipment until 4 days after renewal date, they charged us for another year!!! Their comment - "you had a prepaid service and we had not received the equipment by renewal date, and you had a yearly billing renewal so we can not refund any money". Over $500 lost. Beware of this company and if you feel the need to use them,... Read More
I purchased a device for my grandparents when my grandfather became ill with cancer. He passed away and I continued to keep the account for my grandmother. The device stopped working and Alert1 sent out a new device. I have since received a ***FINAL NOTICE*** which was in fact my first notice, that I owed $559.95 for either un-returned or a damaged device. I spoke to a representative who told me the device had indeed been received and to disregard the notice. She called me back shortly after to tell me she was mistaken and the device had been hit by lightening and I would have to pay the full amount unless I signed up for a device warranty for an additional charge - in which case they... NOT TRUSTWORTHY. I PAID FOR A YEAR AND HAD TO CANCEL AS I MOVED TO A SENIOR CITIZEN FACILITY AND THEY PROVIDED A MONITOR. I RETURNED THE ALERT 1 MONITOR AND THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REMAINING 6 MONTHS. THAT IS NO WAY TO TREAT A SENIOR CITIZEN. DO NOT USE THEM THERE ARE MANY OTHER CHOICES.
Shary W Columbus, Ga. 11/29/17 DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I started this service for my 91 year old father and 93 year old stepmother in 2010 and then my father took over account in 2011. My step mother passed away 3 years ago and we have just now moved my father in assisted living . When I called to cancel service they informed me I had to return monitoring box, plug in and both monitoring buttons preferable in original packing box to cancel and if we did not they would charge my father $300 something for the box plus $120 for buttons even though they admitted they would throw them away when they got equipment. In the 7 years he had spent approximately $2500 with them. Since majority of... Read More
Do not buy from Alert 1 without having a written signed contract FIRST. I used this company for 3 years for my now 86 year old father. My father happened to lose his device (most likely from having to deal with the death of his last surviving sibling) and the company informed me that to replace the device would be $500. I then asked for the signed contract (as I didn't have a copy of one) and they informed me (Alert 1) that they don't do signed contracts. I did have insurance on the device, however, that insurance ONLY covers defective units sent back to them and does not cover lost or stolen devices. I find it repulsive that this company would charge $500 for the device and yet not... Read More
Easy to install. Fast response
LOUD is a good thing.
Did not honor price lock guarantee that was offered at time of purchase. Terrible customer service!! Very rude...she said to email her my contract and when I did the customer representative blocked my email address. Unable to resolve....will find a new provider.
I had already used this device for over a year and a half when a person from Alert1 recently called me to try to sell me insurance on this same mobile device in case it broke or I lost it. Insurance was to cost an extra $6 per month. I asked what breakage or losing this aging equipment would cost me without insurance: she said $600! News to me! If the product is brand new, it can be closer to $1,000! I haven't taken the product out with me since then, and will return it in the next couple of weeks ahead of schedule. I don't want that kind of liability! Get someone used to the security of the product and then scam them. Incidentally, I am prepaid for the year but don't want to deal with... Read More
This system needs refinement. You really have to be right on top of the base station yelling into it for the operator to hear you.Testing the unit on a monthly basis requires doing just that. Obviously, if an elder is in another room it is impossible to communicate. We have had several instances where the control center has called 911 needlessly because they could not hear what was being said on our end.
Had this service for several years for my mother, Customer service was wonderful with regards to the initial start of service. And the equipment never failed even received calls for past due equipment checks. rHowever when my mother used the service for the first time, I was not happy. Being the fact I live further away my initial concern was always communication. I was told during the initial set up, that the representative would stay on the line and let me know the initial assessment. "Never Happened", She told me, " EMT's are with her" and I started asking questions, her reply "I do not know I disconnected from them". I knew nothing, who was going to update? Scared and afraid...
