Overall Rating: 4.3 / 5 (Excellent)

Cove home security receives high marks from us because, although they are not the best in any one category, the company is remarkably consistent in the quality of their overall offerings. It provides all the industry-standard features in beautifully-designed equipment at affordable prices. Cove does away with contracts in favor of a subscription service that offers great flexibility for consumers. They also provide great proprietary features that improve response times and better integrate the system’s various components. Balancing cost, equipment quality, service features, and customer satisfaction, Cove is definitely one of the most noteworthy companies in the industry.

How does Cove work?

Equipment - 3.9 / 5

Though not the most technologically sophisticated system on the market, Cove gets it right where it counts. The installation and set up can be completed in a matter of minutes and company support resources such as video and FAQs in the unlikely event that consumers get stuck during the process. Cove’s most noteworthy features are their InstaText and LiveAssist services. InstaText is the main way Cove notifies all registered emergency contacts in the case an alarm goes off. Cove will immediately send a text message and an email with a link to a page where users can dismiss the alarm or request a dispatch. During this time, users could also receive a phone call if no response is given. LiveAssist is a feature that allows users to speak directly through the touch panel to the monitoring center or use the panel to request a dispatch. The LiveAssist service is available on demand their 24/7. Cove has its own private manufacturer for their technologies.

How much does Cove cost?

Contract Flexibility - 4.4 / 5

Cove does not require consumers to sign a contract. Instead the company charges for their monitoring as a subscription service which consumers are free to cancel at any time. After building their personalized system, consumers will be asked if they wish to pay for the equipment up-front or include it as part of their subscription payments for 36 months. If the former is chosen, clients will, of course, pay more initially, but the monthly payments will be less. After that decision, consumers will choose between the Basic or Plus plans. Considering the difference is just $10, or about $0.33 cents a day, for the useful technology integration features and the lifetime warranty, we would recommend choosing Cove Plus. The Touch Panel costs $184 while the individual sensors range from $15 to $50. Cove also offers one free YI indoor camera, with additional ones costing $59. Cove has a risk-free trial period of 60 days, money back guaranteed.

Unless you have a small 1 bedroom apartment, don't get this system. Every day the system loses communication with different sensors and smoke detectors when they are only two rooms away. We had the panel replaced once with no improvement. I had many sensors purchased to cover the whole house but had to limit them to half. Only those close to the panel and we still get dropouts every day. The system has no range.

A quick glance at reviews at the BBB site will educate the consumer. The product quality is terrible. The majority of my equipment has failed after 2 years. Many false alarms. They cannot reset false alarms 24/7, so you better hope you are around to do it.

I had a pretty frustrating experience dealing with Cove, the security alarm company, and their sales representative, Rob Robert. I must say, I'm quite disappointed with how things turned out. So, Rob was the one who sold me the security system. He assured me that it would cover my entire warehouse, even though I sent him the layout beforehand. However, when I got the equipment installed, it was clear that the system fell short of what Rob had promised. It felt like either he didn't know the products well or he simply misled me to make a sale. To make matters worse, after hiring an installer and going through three weeks of trouble, I reached out to Cove's customer support multiple... Read More

Do not use this company! Nothing but a waste of time and money. We purchased last Fall 2022. Today June 2023 still do not have a functional system. Finally last January they agreed their panel needed to be replaced. Took 6 months! Guess what they can't get the "new" panel to work. We now know why. After telling us about backorders on the panels the panel we got has messages dating back to 2017. They are refusing to give us any money back on this garbage equipment that doesn't work. Do NOT use this company.

Fix you motion sensors. I have had 3 since I bought my system. None have worked. You send them in a padded bag via regular fedex. If you put bubble wrap around them or used a solid box maybe they would get to me. I have tried to reach a manager about this problem but can't get past a customer service rep.

Tried to purchase a system but their website kept rejecting my attempts. Live chat and phone calls all went no where. God help you if you need their live chat to solve a problem. One of the worst customer service experiences I've had

Unreliable system. Frequently looses contact with monitoring station. Technical staff are unable to resolve problems. System is misrepresented as being compatible with homes in the San Francisco Bay Area. After installing system, I was informed that the system isn't compatible with condominiums and doesn't work in West Oakland, CA due to a "weak At&t mobile phone signal. Cove's support staff are offshore (foreign country). Customer service is friendly but completely unable to resolve problems. Today I'm ordering a SimplySafe system.
