Overall Rating: 4.2 / 5 (Excellent)

Starkey offers consumers a wealth of choices both of hearing aid types and the technologies it packs into them. Like most brands of sophisticated hearing products, Starkey hearing aids are sold only through hearing professionals. However, the company has a provider locator on its website. The firm enjoys a solid reputation and touts the fact that it is now the only American owned and operated hearing aid company. Its products are an excellent choice for all except those seeking the most exotic hearing aid technologies.

Starkey Product Offerings

Hearing Aid Style - 4.5 / 5

Starkey offers a very wide range of hearing aid types. Within each category, the company offers three models which vary by what technical features they have. Surprisingly, the firm also offers a personal sound amplifier (PSAP) which, while not a true hearing aid, may be suitable for people who are on an extremely limited budget or who are unsure about the benefits of audio technology.

Features and Price - 5 / 5

Although Starkey hearing aids are provided only by hearing professionals, the company does offer a number of consumer-friendly additional services. Starkey Pricing

Battery Life - 4 / 5

Starkey does not publish prices for its products and notes that the cost of its custom-made products is strongly dependent on which style and features a customer selects.

Starkey After-Sale Service

Customer Experience - 3.5 / 5

Starkey does not publish details about its warranties, though the company suggests that they vary by model. It also appears that customers can buy extended warranties from Starkey that cover non-Starkey brands, but again details are not available.
Warranty Extendable?
Yes

Starkey Reputation

Reputation - 4 / 5

As the only wholly American manufacturer of hearing aids, Starkey enjoys a sound reputation, especially among people who prefer to buy American. Although it has no presence on Trustpilot, it has an A+ rating by the BBB. The handful of complaints about Starkey on the BBB site generally concern issues that are more properly addressed to the hearing professionals who actually provided the devices. The firm has been in existence for over half a century and in all that time does not appear to have been the subject of any regulatory actions, reported consumer litigation, or product recalls.

I bought some of your hearing aids and as far as I can see they are just junk. You don't honor your contracts and your service sucks. These hearing aids are barely over a year old and one doesn't work and the other one is spotty at best. I spend that much money I expect a lot better product than what I got. I wouldn't recommend these to my worst enemy.

It took me 2 YEARS and 3 DIFFERENT audiologists to get starkey to make a shallow set of their Soundlens aids. My first Right-side aid was accidentally made as a Left side instead of an opposite hand mirror to the Left - it hurt like being stabbed in the inner ear when first inserted. I was a 34 year old man and nearly cried in the doctors office from the pain. When i pointed this out to my doctor, she said I don't know what im talking about and had it remade SMALLER. At no point did any of these trained professionals stop to see that the Right aid was made a Left. It took me 3 remakes (once every 2 weeks with shipping) for them to admit the mistake and remake. 50 such episodes... Read More

Purchased Halo 2 Starkey Hearing Aid from CT dealer in 2018, one of the selling point was iPhone app. If you are iPhone user, might not even bother using the app. Star Link is one to worst designed app I have seen. Slow in bringing up your stored memories. Drops connection frequently. If you close iPhone and open, again, most of the time it starts from the Normal not the last stored memory you were using.

I bought Starkey hearing but was given Audibel hearing aids being that that they were the PREMIUM Brand of Starkey hearing aids. Paid $6,500.00 for the hearing aids. Nothing but trouble after several months of use. The hearing aids were sent back to the company at least 8 times for repair. They were never repaired completely. They turn on and off by themselves, screech all the time and I have to hold down the program button all the time just to get them to work. I was supposed to get a 6 month hearing update test but that never happened till after 2 years and a phone call to Starkey. Now out of warranty that charge $250.00 each time they are sent back for repair. Their customer service is... Read More

Starkey hearing aids have the best fitting custom devices out of the big 6 major hearing aid manufacturers. Their feedback suppression and durability is hands down the best I have seen. Starkey is known for their excellent customer service. When I call them I am immediately connected to a real person. Their wireless programming and Inspire software is user friendly for the provider.
