Overall Rating: 4.2 / 5 (Excellent)

Starkey offers consumers a wealth of choices both of hearing aid types and the technologies it packs into them. Like most brands of sophisticated hearing products, Starkey hearing aids are sold only through hearing professionals. However, the company has a provider locator on its website. The firm enjoys a solid reputation and touts the fact that it is now the only American owned and operated hearing aid company. Its products are an excellent choice for all except those seeking the most exotic hearing aid technologies.

Starkey Product Offerings

Hearing Aid Style - 4.5 / 5

Starkey offers a very wide range of hearing aid types. Within each category, the company offers three models which vary by what technical features they have. Surprisingly, the firm also offers a personal sound amplifier (PSAP) which, while not a true hearing aid, may be suitable for people who are on an extremely limited budget or who are unsure about the benefits of audio technology.

Starkey Additional Services

Features and Price - 5 / 5

Although Starkey hearing aids are provided only by hearing professionals, the company does offer a number of consumer-friendly additional services. Financing may be obtained through the company's partnership with Wells Fargo. Starkey Pricing

Battery Life - 4 / 5

Starkey does not publish prices for its products and notes that the cost of its custom-made products is strongly dependent on which style and features a customer selects.

Starkey After-Sale Service

Customer Experience - 3.5 / 5

Starkey does not publish details about its warranties, though the company suggests that they vary by model. It also appears that customers can buy extended warranties from Starkey that cover non-Starkey brands, but again details are not available.
Warranty Extendable?
Yes

Starkey Reputation

Reputation - 4 / 5

As the only wholly American manufacturer of hearing aids, Starkey enjoys a sound reputation, especially among people who prefer to buy American. Although it has no presence on Trustpilot, it has an A+ rating by the BBB. The handful of complaints about Starkey on the BBB site generally concern issues that are more properly addressed to the hearing professionals who actually provided the devices. The firm has been in existence for over half a century and in all that time does not appear to have been the subject of any regulatory actions, reported consumer litigation, or product recalls.

I have been using the Starkey Livio AI rechargeable hearing aids for 9 months. I have continued to have issues with the hearing aid performance. I have sent them back to Starkey for repairs only to have them returned and I experience the same issues. The consistent issues I have include: - one hearing aid shuts off or restarts (~2-4 times per day). -The BLE connection with my phone is invalided and it is necessary to delete the configuration and completely re-establish the BLE pairing (~once monthly). -When streaming, the left and right ear's get out of sync and the resulting playback is not understandable (~once every three days). The "awarding winning" Thrive application is a... Read More

I have the Starkey Soundlens Syn i2400 - IIC, paid over 5k for them and they are just not worth it. They do one thing very well, and that is break. I can't remember the last time I had both of them in my ears for any significant length of time. Every time something is wrong they get sent back to Starkey and you are out for 2 weeks. If you do not specify for them to use the same exact mold number of the one(s) that fit, what you get back probably wont fit right and will have to be sent back again, now your out a month. The Audiologist have actually gone to bat for me and got Starkey to extend coverages for them all the way up to completely replacing them. Even with that, the same old... Read More

I would never recommend Starkey Livio hearing aides. I have attempted over and over to correct the issues. The aides functioned intermittently since I got them. I have made many attempts to solve the continue problems with the aides, they seem to have a life of their own. There is no safe way that Starkey Livio hearing aides can be trusted to use consistently. 1. They switch channels at will. If I have them set on normal, they may switch to Loop or Car when my phone is across the room. 2. The sound moves on its own—this is very troublesome, especially when it changes to very loud. It is harmful to my ears and brain to have unexpected loudness or when the aides switch... Read More

I have only had my hearing aides one day, but it was so great when I can hear better than I have ever in my life. I have to also give thanks to Lucye who chose these aides for me. She is so knowledgeable and caring.

Starkey is the third brand of hearing aid I’ve owned, and is by far the best. The sound quality is incredible, and my level of understanding is significantly improved. As for customer service, I haven’t had to deal directly with Starkey, but my audiologist is wonderful. His level of dedication and service is unmatched. These hearing aids were expensive, but I believe the price was fair, considering the level of technology.

Cheap junk. The button to change profiles sticks so mine keep says 'One, Two,One, Two,One, Two,....'. For the amount of money these cost they should be warranted for 10 years, unconditional.

Save your money and do not buy Starkey invisible hearing aids. You will never have both working at the same time. You will always be sending 1 back for repair. The quality of these devices is very very poor.

I had a major issue at an Audibel location that the owner refuses to address. After calling 9 times over 1.5 months, the owner still refuses to contact me back or acknowledge my issue. Unbelievably trash customer service for products that have a major impact on people's lives. I will never purchase a Starkey hearing aid again.

Reviews don't sound very good. I have had Starkey hearing aids for the past 5 years and for the most part, very happy, but I have to replace them because I lost them while on vacation. Not too sure I want to remain a Starkey customer based upon the reviews I am reading.

Got Starkey hearing aids in July. Having huge problems with them and they don't work as well as I would have hoped - especially for the price. Would not recommend them to anyone.
