I have been a customer for over 10 years. For the past 6 months, I answer the phone and it is blank, nothing. I hang up and call the other person back and they say they can hear me, but I couldn't hear them. Then, when talking to them, there is an echo and about a 1 second delay. Via Talk Support Manager, Tanya Runyon, tells me 1 second is normal. My telecom friends tell me that is enough time to travel around the globe and is not at all acceptable. I have been submitting tickets for over 6 months. They give me a list of tasks to complete. customer service isn't 24x7 as they claim. Seems like operators are in Fiji. Call during their daylight hours for help.

Buyer beware, I am another customer that has been charged for an old damaged phone adapter that their records indicate was never returned by me back 8 years ago in 2012. I have been a customer of theirs for almost a decade! They never contacted me about this before only after I canceled their service.

Update: ViaTalk refunded $50 of the $100 they took from me after I had cancelled. Again, for this part they charged me for old broken modems I had received over the years that they claimed I never sent back. Again, this is after I spent postage to send back the current 6 year old modem to avoid their $50 fee. Just a way to beat you up if you ever leave. Due to their attempt at kindness I raise their rating to 3 star. Original review-------- Stay far away from ViaTalk. I was a loyal customer for 15 years but they were never loyal to me! We've used ViaTalk for almost 4 years and the service has been mediocre, but we've put up with it because it was relatively cheap and provided a backup for our cell phones which is all we really wanted. Yesterday, a relative told us he wasn't able to reach us through our home phone number which was our first indication something was wrong. Today we got an email from ViaTalk letting us know that our phone number, which we've had as our land line for over 20 years, has been transferred out of their system. My occupation is a Senior Network Engineer, so I know a thing or two. I had service with Viatalk for 10 years and my Viatalk owned VOIP adapter died. While it had a link light it would not pull an IP address on my network. Before calling Viatalk I did my due diligence, including running a packet capture and confirmed that the device was not generating any network traffic. Called Viatalk and spoke with three separate techs all of which only had one goal, to do and say whatever possible not to replace the defective adapter. Long time customer who grew tired of the lack of features. The overall service was not very reliable - Frequently had to reboot adapter and you never know when it. Finally, the adapter quit altogether, so I opted to use my own equipment for years... When I cancelled, they insisted that I pay for not returning the failed equipment. Avoid at all costs - there's services with better features...

Customer since 2009. Opened trouble ticket for inability to make some outgoing calls. Same day billing opened separate ticket which stated they'll asses me $50 for broken box they replaced during another trouble ticket call three years ago. I highly recommend staying away from this company. Their billing is unscrupulous.

I've had no inbound phone service for a week. They say my phone # has been hijacked and transferred by a third party so I have to sign another LOA for getting my phone # back. How this could happen after having the same phone number for over 25 years , with 5 years of it with VIATALK phone service?
