I wouldn't recommend renting space at Public Storage unless you are prepared to spend 47% more than the original price in 1 year's time. My 5 x 10 storage unit started at $66 then went up to $75 after 6 months then up to $97 at 1 year of renting space there.
This is a Countrywide issue as I have also rented space in another state with price increases every 6 month.
Suggest you go to a local company instead of Public Storage who DIS their loyal customers.
I got a unit on special for $77/mo........6 months later it was raised $24/mo.......a 30% rate increase. no warning. No saying it would go upike that after 6 months. In fact I was told it would go up gradually about 3 to 5 dollars after 6 months. Mis representation lying, cameras do not work.
Bad service and dishonest. Rent goes up more than once because they know the likely hood of moving everything out is slim. I paid premium for a 1st floor climate controlled unit. I went there several times and noticed it was extremely hot. I mentioned to the manager and was basically told I was imagining things, in short. I went to storage last time and saw mold was growing on all of my things. I contacted management again and was told “they dont have mold” obviously they do, I can see it and took photos. I rented a unit on March 6th, 2019. I received notice that at the 6 month point the rent amount was going up. I took the option of leaving the facility. I checked out and received a "check-out date" receipt dated August 6th, 2019. On August 3rd there was an automatic payment withdrawn from my account. I called to find out how much of that payment would be returned to me through a prorated system. Public Storage informed me they do not prorate returns. I would understand not getting anything back if I had 4 days left to the month but I was on the 1st day of the billing period. That is robbery. Ms Roth (District Manager), You recently re-instated the late fee for my June rent. As I tried to explain, I attempted to pay my rent on the evening of June 6, but your payment website was down. I tried repeatedly to make the payment on the 6th, before the late fee kicked in, but without success. It is not my fault that your payment site was down, and I attempted in good faith to make payment before the end of the day on the 6th. If you advertise your business is open until 6 p.m., I arrive at 5:30 p.m. and the office is locked and the lights out, am I still liable for the late fee if you don't observe your own policies? There service is horrifying! They do NOT care about the customers. They avoid at all costs to deal with serious matters. I would give 0 stars if I could- rent from somewhere else!
On Tuesday May 29, 2018, I got stuck at Public Storage on Lee Highway in Centreville, VA for about 3 hrs. After being yelled at and berated by customer reps, a police officer drove me home. The next day I called them to let them know that I had my car there and of the incident that happened. I wanted to make sure it didnt get towed. No one answered and I called frantically, about 20 times. I had to use an uber to go back there later that day. I went inside and told an employee about my care being left there overnight. The rating should be horrible. We put our stuff into a unit. When returned it wad infested from rats. Poop all over. We had to wash and clean everything. What we lost there was no dumpster to put garbage into. The office was rude and nasty. When returned the police were there, unit next to ours was robbed. They are suppose to have security. Please be careful before putting your valuable possessions into a public storage
Also a month after getting the unit they raised the rate. This place was at NE 36th st in ocala fl
