It is a great concept where you can keep the steel-framed, weatherproof container at your home or business, or store it at a PODS indoors storage facility. The company delivers and moves the container for you. Its website is informative specifically on features offered as well as basic pricing. It has a good BBB rating but an average Trustpilot one. Consumer reviews included complaints about delivery scheduling problems, up-selling, and not disclosing all fees. Many consumers complained about confusing billing practices and very poor customer service. It is also an expensive moving and storage solution compared to self-storage solutions. Pricing is based on monthly rental rates for either onsite or facility storage, starting at $149.99 per month for a 12-foot container and $159.99 for a 16-foot container. Rates are subject to container availability, geographical location, and length of rental period. These rates do not include delivery fees or insurance coverage. Insurance coverages include container-only and/or content-only coverage. The company offers a 10% discount to military members (active, veteran) of first-month rent and initial delivery charge. In fine print on the website, it does state that the military discount is “for a limited time only at participating locations.” There were no other discounts or promotions listed on the website at the time of this review. PODS has been the most expensive and most dissatisfactory business experience in my entire life. I ordered five containers over a two year period. The last container I ordered they sent to my deceased mother’s house which was sold nearly two years before. This was despite having told the representative on the phone that it was the wrong address. That mistake caused me a five day delay in delivering the last container. Thanks to the colossal incompetence of the PODS organization (more to the point, DISORGANIZATION) I barely finished packing at the very last hour of the day that we closed on our home sale.
