Overall Rating: 2.8 / 5 (Average)

TeenSafe gets high marks on ease-of-use and attentive customer service. It also takes privacy and security seriously, providing SSL and data encryption to make sure data stays strictly between the child and parent. In fact, the company claims not even TeenSafe itself can see the data. It’s important to note that if parents want to have control over the phone and not just monitor their child’s behavior, they will need to add the TeenSafe Control service, which is an additional cost. Between both services, however, TeenSafe does the job. Its monitoring shows all sent, received and deleted messages, real-time GPS tracking, call logs and browser history. Adding the Control app gives parents the power to pause the phone, block apps as they see fit and block purchases. The big drawback to the service is that it does not give parents the ability to see pictures and video on the phone. Overall, however, given its comprehensiveness, adaptability and strict data security measures, TeenSafe is a standout choice in the field of parental control apps.

TeenSafe Features & Services

Features & Services - 4 / 5

Using both services - TeenSafe Monitoring and Control - allows parents to not only monitor the phone, but to have a fair amount of say in how it's used. Some of the highlights involve real-time GPS tracking and the "pause" button, which allows parents to shut down most phone functions for a determined period of time, for example, while driving or during dinner. This well-thought-out feature allows the teen to make calls while the phone is in pause mode in case there's an emergency. One drawback to TeenSafe's service is that it will not let parents view images or video sent from the child's phone. This could certainly present a security issue since this is one arena that is especially prone to risky behavior and allows sharing of questionable and offensive content.

Hey, it seems that the URL of this app is wrong. The real website is theteensafe.com - at least that's where I bought it. Works just fine, but yeah, as Amanda mentioned, there are some issues.

I purchased a yearly subscription for this service. About 10 minutes later, I realized the two factor authentication required to be disabled for this to work correctly was not something I was able to disable from my son's iphone. Apparently that is a common problem and we can't bypass it. So I immediately emailed and requested a refund from the company. I was sent an auto reply. Okay. Later I was sent an email that the customer service center is located in the Phillipines where a natural disaster occurred and there would be longer than usual wait times. Okay. Understood. A week later I hadn't heard....so I emailed for an update on the status of my refund. I was again told there is a longer... Read More
