AmeriSave is a medium-sized non-bank lender, which provides first mortgages and mortgage refinancing. The company offers a full complement of loan products, including low-cost government-backed loans.

Though AmeriSave has had some regulatory problems in the past, its competitive pricing and overall transparency may compensate for these issues.

The company's online portal can provide quotes in under a minute. AmeriSave features a number of calculators and other tools on its website to help homeowners understand how different refinancing scenarios would play out for them.

The company also offers an unusually high level of proactive customer service during the quote process that may make shopping for the best refinancing offer easier for customers.

AmeriSave offers competitive rates on its mortgage refinance products, which include both government-backed FHA, VA, and USDA loans, as well as conventional and jumbo loans.

Customers can also choose between fixed- and variable-rate loans, though with mortgage rates being near historic lows at the time of this review, many borrowers would be best served by locking in a loan rate while the market is so favorable.

Ease of Process - 5 / 5

AmeriSave makes comparing refinancing scenarios considerably easier than many companies. The company's quote tool returns a wide variety of options and shows you how your monthly payments will change if you decide to pay points upfront. AmeriSave's website features a live chat feature. After you complete the quote process, an AmeriSave representative will reach out via chat and ask you if you need any help understanding your options or continuing with the application process. Such pro-active customer service is unusual in the industry. Speaking with a loan representative in real time, when you have all of your options in front of you on your computer, is a great way to gain insight into the refinancing process. The use of live chat versus telephone contact may be more comfortable and less intrusive for many borrowers.

Customer Service and Reputation - 4.5 / 5

Despite the considerable number of positive reviews AmeriSave has received on online consumer platforms, AmeriSave has had 14 regulatory actions taken against it by the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and 599 complaints lodged with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau over the past three years. Given the size of the company and the number and variety of loans it offers, that record isn't all that bad. Many lenders don't even fare that well. But it does underscore the need for consumers to become extremely well-educated about mortgages before they refinance a property. Many complaints in the mortgage industry can be traced back to misunderstandings about loan approval criteria, lenders' fees, and borrowers' responsibilities once they've taken out a loan.

I pride myself on contacting mangers for great service as well as sending a ding for poor service. Unhappily this is the later. Once they get your signature, it's all downhill. Curt representatives, placaters (my kind way of identifying them as liars) I will not speak to my previous exchange in 2020 as t has been too long and things may have changed, but suffice it to say it was less than satisfactory. I have been attempting to get an escrow check reissued. I contracted Covid and only the most essential activity was done for several weeks. I was told, in February, 15-30 days to reissue. Today, 37 days later, it was still a no show. I called. The customer service rep put me on hold... Read More

They are terrible!! Run away as fast as you can!! After 7 months of stalling and redoing expired rate locks at higher and higher fees and rates we called it quits and used another company. It actually worked out quite well-rates took a dive just as we switched companies, with the other company we ended up paying no points or upfront costs and got a better interest rate-closed in 6 weeks. After that, Amerifirst had the nerve to try to get our business back; an ambitious sales rep pulled our credit reports and sent a a loan packet to approve. Turns out that is illegal-the government takes a dim view of it LOL

I began an effort to refinance through Amerisave in October of 2021. I provided everything that was asked of me initially, including the $500 non-refundable fee. Shortly thereafter, my loan officer began demanding more & more information from me, a sizeable amount of which was inapplicable to the situation. Phone calls & emails went unanswered, voicemails unreturned, yet the situation never improved. I was eventually contacted by a random agent there who actually attempted to assist me, but was unlicensed, so she couldn't really do much besides send intracompany emails to other departments. As soon as I believed we were actually getting somewhere, they demanded yet another random piece of... Read More

My 29 year old son contacted AmeriSave to get an on line quote to refinance his condo. He was told he had to pay $500 before he could proceed. After several emails to my son, increasing the fees with each consecutive email, my son decided to withdraw his application. He was also unaware he would not receive his initial $500 back. It’s pretty shitty of your company to keep his $500 and the only thing he got was two email from you. In my opinion, this is very bad business practice and hope your company needed that $500 more than my son did.

DO NOT TRUST THEM! THEY ARE LIERS! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They promise you a super low rate in the beginning and 2 weeks before closing they change the discount points of the great rate you thought you locked in... Now I have to pay an extra $3,000 on closing because they increased the discount points on me. I had to call them every single day for a whole week to squeeze out the answer from them why the discount points suddenly change. and they just give me some excuses that my initial rate lock agreement had an error, blah blah blah. BTW, I am working with Jesse Cogar and he's very difficult to work with. Fun when you have a chance

Scam! Do not use this company. Most review sites are paid to provide 4 or 5 stars reviews. I had a horrible experience like many here. Check BBB for better non bias reviews. The company will pre approve your loan to take your money and then will not answer your call or email when it’s time to close on the house no matter how many time you try. It is a common practice for them. Check out BBB. Do not waste your time.

I wish I had read these reviews before contacting this company, THE WORST!!!! It has been more than a month and I have not been able to refinance. I am told that I don't qualify and my file was close with no explanation after a MONTH. To top it off they won't reimburse me the loan fee after Casey Ward the loan originator assure me that he wouldn't charge me before making sure I qualify. Do yourself a favor by saving time and not stressing your self dealing with liars, unprofessional people and worst customer service. I am amaze why is rated so highly, it should be at the bottom as one of the worst company.

Horrible experience! STAY AWAY from them. It took 9 months to process our loan. There were several times the loan originator told us the wrong thing then wanted to throw us under the bus for "never having everything at the same time." Very poor service and it really felt like a scam.

Still waiting. I went through the automated system on Lending Tree and filled out the information that gave me the best option for refinance. This was on 2/15/2021. Amerisave was the top choice it said and it had a high customer satisfaction rating. When I asked how long the process would be they let me know that it could be anywhere between 30-45 days. That was their first estimation. I was worried that rates would go up so I kept my eye on requirements so I don't miss a rate lock. I was given a 2.5% rate that expired on 4/7. I figured that was lots of time. Everything went swimmingly well. They requested the usual information and I delivered all documents by the following... Read More

On January 21, 2021 I started a mortgage refinance process with Amerisave Mortgage. My Loan processor was Bryce Powers. Bryce and I discussed the loan, including the loan rate. I was happy with the initial loan rate of 2.75% for a 30 year mortgage. I asked Bryce to “lock-in” the rate. Bryce explained that it was Amerisave’s policy not to lock in rates because “if the rate dropped, the customer benefits and if the rate goes up, Amerisave will issue an exemption to get the rate back to the rate on the signed disclosure.” This sounded like a great deal to me, a can’t lose situation. After the appraisal came in higher than anticipated, I asked Bryce what the rate would be on a cashout... Read More
