Summary

What’s great about Cigna’s health insurance plans is that it doesn’t have maximum annual limits on a number of services it covers.

Three Physical Therapy Sessions. Three. That is all they would cover instead of the 12 my doctor ordered. Despite my extensive cervical spine history and that this was caused by a new injury (fall). They decide they knew better than the neurosurgeon and only authorized THREE sessions.

Cigna is the worst health insurance provider I have ever been on for mental health. I recently had a job change that forced me onto Cigna. My wife and I both lost our therapists and after finding that many, many mental health providers do not take Cigna, I reached out to friend that works in mental health. He said that Cigna does not reimburse enough to make mental health providers choose Cigna. So we are left with only the best of their in network providers that are accepting new patients during a world wide pandemic. Cigna should be ashamed by how they leave mental health patients with fewer options than their competitors.

My company went to Cigna recently so I have NO choice but to use them. They are HORRIBLE. My wife was all set for a procedure that she really needed to have and the day before the procedure, it was cancelled by Evicore. Evicore is a joke. They are a third party company that Cigna uses to approve procedures. Or should I say RARELY approve procedures. I guess they can't do it themselves (great company huh). 90% of my wife's doctors didn't take Cigna and refused to take them as we were told that they are impossible to deal with. I have come to find out that is very true, and have now we have to try and find new doctors for her that do take Cigna. Needless to say, that search isn't going... Read More

Cigna is sub par at best. I am on an employee self funded administered by Cigna plan. We cannot get accurate information and have been given lots of misinformation including misleading and reduced benefits. I was told by a Cigna supervisor that they do no have to follow Oregon Law with this plan (Regence administered the same plan and they followed Oregon law) and that Maintenance of Benefits from our old plan do not apply even though this is part of our Employee contract. (again, not a problem with Regence)Their EOBS do not tell you any specifics about provider, cost, allowable and billed amounts, etc. I was told by the Cigna liaison to our plan that Ash(clearinghouse) would be removed... This has been the most difficult heath insurance company to get my son an MRI for his wrist injury. Waiting now for over 6 weeks and still having to do a peer to peer to try and get an MRI that the doctor has asked for from the very beginning. This has been an absolute nightmare.

My primary care physician ordered a CT scan for diagnostic purposes. The first request got rejected stating that they don't approve the test but they don't approve the CT facility (which I believe is because of monetary reasons). I had to lookup a facility they approve of and ask my PMP to send his instructions to that facility. Again they rejected (although they stated in a letter that this is NOT a denial of coverage but a request for more information) saying that my PMP has to submit "... detailed history, physical examination, list of treatments, prior imaging with report and laboratory results (if any)..." in order for them to approve. The CT order was for diagnostic reasons - how can... Read More

Ditto on many of the other reviews that Cigna is terrible. Cigna (DPPO) takes hours to answer the phone, and if someone answers the phone, they hang up. Long wait times for pre-approvals for procedures and tests. I will never go with Cigna again.

I just found out Cignas' customer service just lied to me about my prescription. I ordered it near the first of the month along with another prescription. I received the other prescription Monday, 12/6/21. I called & asked why & they couldn't tell me anything and suggested I call the shipping company, the shipping company told me the shipping label was just created yesterday & they picked it up today. Every time I refill this one prescription I have a hard time with Cigna, it's like they don't want to mess with it.

CIGNA was great 30 years ago. When I turned 65, I was so excited to get back on it through Medicare. What a total disappointment! Marketing instead of Medicine. They buried me in paperwork and won't stop. I haven't been with them for 2 years and they still won't let go.
