AffordableHealthPlans.org is an online marketplace that can connect those looking for health insurance with a variety of providers in the national Health Care Marketplace. The company offers quotes over the phone Mon - Sat 8 AM - 8 PM EST and also through their online portal. In addition to individual health insurance plans AffordableHealthPlans.org also offers short term health insurance.

AffordableHealthPlans.org - Overview

AffordableHealthPlans.org operates an easy-to-use web portal for accessing the US Healthcare Marketplace for individual health insurance plans. The company requires some basic information to connect you with providers in your area. A standout feature of AffordableHealthPlans.org's website is its ability to immediately geo-target your location anywhere in the United States (including territories) and show the on-exchange plans and on-exchange providers in your exact area, as well as the number of people they have already served in your area as well. AffordableHealthPlans.org's licensed health insurance agents are available to help you online as well as over the phone.

Types of Plans Available with AffordableHealthPlans.org

AffordableHealthPlans.org offers marketplace healthcare plans from all the top providers in the nation. Some of these include BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Aetna, and Humana. The availability of plan types will vary by company, but generally include:

HMO - This is the type of plan that requires you to have a primary care provider (PCP). The PCP is always the first point of contact should you need referral to a specialist. HMOs are usually the least expensive option.

PPO - This type of coverage lets you choose whatever primary care physician or specialist you want either in or out of network. Though, it generally costs less to stay in network in terms of copays. Coverage is also only full when within the network.

EPO - EPOs do not require you to go through a PCP to obtain referrals to a specialist, but you still have to remain in the network of doctors and hospitals. If you decide to go out of network, you will be liable for 100% of the cost.

AffordableHealthPlans.org provides access to all of the "metal" tier health plans offered by the National Healthcare Marketplace. These four plans offer varying degrees of coverage and copayment options. Bronze and Silver tier plans are the most cost effective. They have the lowest monthly premium, but highest deductible. These plans are ideal for younger folks who do not want to pay so much and need coverage only in worst case scenarios. Gold and Platinum plans offer the largest degree of coverage options, lowest deductibles, and highest premiums. These are good for those who frequently require medical care and are willing to pay extra monthly.

Application

AffordableHealthPlans.org automatically determines where you are browsing from and tells you of the on-exchange plans that are available in your area. In the above example there are 33 plans in total. After this, the company only needs your zip code, name, age, and tobacco use to begin. Depending on several factors, AffordableHealthPlans.org could also require some of the following information to generate your quotes:

  • Household Income
  • Qualifying Event (if outside of open enrollment)
  • Address
  • Email
  • Phone

After this the website provides you with several quotes based on your entered information. Once you've compared plans and selected the one that best fits your requirements, AffordableHealthPlans.org will funnel you to the provider's site to begin the enrollment process.

Providers

AffordableHealthPlans.org has a rather extensive list of health insurance providers. By going through the process  and providing your information, you are consenting to be contacted by up to eight of these companies. While many of the companies are recognizable and prominent players in the insurance industry (AIG, Cigna, Colonial Penn, etc.), ConsumersAdvocate.org strongly recommends you thoroughly research the reputation of any affiliate AffordableHealthPlans.org refers you to before purchasing a health insurance plan.

Health Insurance with AffordableHealthPlans.org

AffordableHealthPlans.org provides an easy and intuitive interface for procuring on-market health insurance plans. Customers are able to apply during open enrollment, but also during qualifying life events, such as marriage, childbirth, or loss of health coverage. As the company is a relatively new online marketplace, we strongly encourage users to do their homework on each prospective provider before committing to a plan.

They are harassing and annoying even after I have told them to stop calling because I found a health care plan.

I submitted my information to this website looking for quotes for health insurance. You will NOT receive any quotes. What you WILL receive, beginning immediately after submitting your info, is call after call after call! They are merely placing your info on a call/email list. I literally received (yes, I counted them as I scrolled my recent calls list blocking all of them) 41 calls within one hour... Please DO NOT use this website!

Ever since I went on to the site to look at quotes, we have been getting inundated with insurance telemarketers, both on cell phones and home phones (even though I didn't give out both numbers). For the last several days (including the weekend) we have been getting 5-10 calls on each line per day!

They are horrible. They call and call and call and never do you get a policy plan to actually look over they just hope to sell you over the phone and that is bull because unless I see in writing all the details of a policy good luck getting my money. I already regret using them. My phone hasn't stopped ringing in 15 minutes!
