Founded in 2006, Empire Auto Protect offers extended warranty coverage for vehicles whose original factory warranties have expired. The company offers a choice of three plans that cover either basic systems like heating and cooling and drive axles or more esoteric repairs, including high-tech electronics. All plans include roadside assistance, fuel refills, and rental car coverage. Empire Auto Protect serves vehicle owners nationwide and is headquartered in Dover, Delaware.

Overall Rating: 4.5 / 5 (Excellent)

Empire Auto Protect offers extended warranty coverage for automobiles and light trucks that are no longer covered under their original factory warranties.

The company offers three plans with the notable option of plans with no deductibles. You can request a quote online by answering a few questions about your auto and your location. The site will return an estimate immediately. However, that's just the company's recommendation and when we used the tool, it recommended Empire Auto Protect's least expensive and least extensive coverage. The estimate you'll receive doesn't offer pricing for its mid-price or top-tier plans.

Customers may select any dealership or repair facility to perform repairs. So you can still give your business to your favorite, trusted mechanic. Mechanics work directly with Empire Auto Protect to get paid, which simplifies the claims process for vehicle owners. Empire Auto Protect's extended warranties are transferrable, should you decide to sell your car while you are still under contract.

We do fault the company for some lack of transparency. The company does not publish a link to a sample contract or list coverage exclusions on its website. Nor does it do a good job of explaining its no-deductible contracts, other to say that customers have that option.

Claims & Repairs - 4 / 5

Empire Auto Protect customers can bring their vehicles in for repair at any licensed repair shop or dealer. The company offers simple, hands-off claim filing. Simply bring your vehicle to your trusted mechanic and he or she will perform the repair and bill Empire Auto Protect directly. That means customers who have non-deductible plans will have no out-of-pocket expenses. The company doesn't say whether estimates/claims must be approved before work is started.

Plans & Service Contracts - 4.5 / 5

Empire Auto Protect doesn't provide a sample contract on its website. That makes it difficult to compare Empire Auto Protect coverage, including exclusions and coverage limits, to what other vehicle service contract companies offer.

The company doesn't appear to offer a monthly payment option. Rather contracts are billed annually. That may make their policies cost-prohibitive for some vehicle owners.

Unsettling Experience with Warranty Claim and Threats! I am compelled to share my disheartening experience with Empire Auto Protect regarding my first warranty claim for my Porsche. Despite having a fully covered warranty and meeting the requirement of 1000 miles to negate a pre-existing condition, my claim was unjustly denied, conveniently labeled as "pre-existing." The process of pursuing the claim has been a nightmare, involving blocked emails and phone numbers, making it nearly impossible to communicate with EMPIRE AUTO PROTECT . Their claim partners, Dealer Loyalty Protection, also appear questionable, with salespeople doubling as inspectors. What is even more troubling is... Read More

In October 2022, I signed up in good faith based on their "good rating" with an Auto extended warranty company called Empire Auto Protect in October 2022. I purchased their top-of-the-line Titanium package. In February 2023, I had a check engine light come on. I took the car to the dealership. The diagnostic was a defective ignition coil. The dealership contacted them and was told that the claim has been denied. I ended up having to pay $780.25 for the diagnostic and the repair. After multiple attempts via email and phone calls to reverse the rejected claim, I was told that it was considered a worn part even though it is specifically mentioned as covered on their Titanium policy line 14. I... Read More

I have been in the market for a car and inquired on 6/3 with Empire Auto/MEPCO about a warranty policy. Eric Nies, the salesman that helped me, said that I had 60 days to cancel, would get all my money back and everything would be good. I ended up not purchasing the prospective car and ask Eric to cancel the policy and get my money back to start anew when I found the right car – he told me I could cancel at anytime until August and it would automatically cancel if I had no car attached to it, so I could be locked in at that rate. I have been actively searching for a car and then found one 8/16, I never got the first payments back from the original policy, despite what Eric said about... Read More

I cancelled my warranty almost a month ago. I was promised a full refund a week after I cancelled, nothing. Then I submitted my signed cancelled contract agreement and was again promised a full refund, still no refund.
