Zenernet, LLC is a solar energy sales and installation company based in Overland Park, Kansas. Founded in 2017, the company focuses on installing solar panels on residential buildings. The company offers consumers a single point-of-contact for solar panel purchase and installation, including the panels, inverters, mounting hardware, monitors, and hook-up.

Overview

Zenernet is a full-service solar electric energy company for homeowners who want to install solar panels on their houses. The company handles all phases of a residential solar installation project, from procuring the panels, mounting brackets, inverter, and other necessary hardware to installing it on their customers' roofs. The key selling point of the company's operation is one-stop shopping: consumers don't have to coordinate among multiple vendors to get a solar electric system installed and online. Zenernet operates in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Texas. It plans to expand operations into Arkansas,   Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Utah.

Services and Features

Zenernet offers customers an array of solar panel options from over a half dozen different manufacturers. Customers can compare the prices, features, and power output of many different photovoltaic arrays, mounting systems, monitoring systems, and inverters. Once the hardware has been selected, Zenernet installs the entire system through its network of premium contractors.

Upfront costs have long been a source of concern for consumers who want to go solar. Zenernet partners with different financing companies to that provide consumers with various lease and purchase financing options. The company works with Sunrun and Sunpower on lease arrangements and with Mosaic, Sunlight, LoanPal, Dividend, and Sungage on purchase financing. The company also coordinates with PACE (Property-Assessed Clean Energy) programs by partnering with HERO, CalFirst, and Ygrene.

Unlike other solar installation companies that limit solar installations to certain types of roof configurations, Zenernet does not place across-the-board restrictions on the type of roofs it will install solar panels on. The company's experienced installers can put solar panels on just about any kind of roof.

Zenernet warrants its systems and installation for 25 years and also provides a roof damage warranty of at least 20 years.

The company can be contacted by phone, through a web form, or by email. Its website is functional but is somewhat bare-bones in terms of the information it provides. However, since each installation involves dozens of factors, including roof type, property location and orientation, choice of hardware, size, local regulations, and financing, Zenernet's one-on-one personal approach to guiding consumers through this major purchase makes sense.

The Bottom Line

Zenernet stands out for its flexibility in terms of hardware types, roof types, financing arrangements, warranties, and its one-stop-shopping approach to solar energy. Though the company is one of the newer entries in the solar electricity market, its approach and business model put it in the top tier of its industry.

I entered into a contract with Zenernet Solar, in March of 2021, to install solar panels and a battery backup system on my home in Fremont, CA. They sent a subcontractor from Fresno (3 hours from my home) to start the job on July 26th of 2021. The subcontractor, EcoBright Solar, “completed” the job in August. However, their work never passed city inspections and was never approved by PG&E for switchover to my solar gear. It turns out that they filed incorrect plans, left my new break box empty, and never connected the solar system to my existing utility service. EcoBright has since been brought up on numerous fraud and embezzlement charges in the Fresno area. There are multiple... Read More

Run from this company. It took over 6 months to finish the installation and it's never worked right. They hired a company that is located over 5 hours drive to do the installation who I now know was not authorized by Generac on the PowerCell system they poorly installed. The system has failed again and it's taken three 10 hour round trips to diagnose just the first part of the problem. Presently, I am waiting for the installe's repair crew, who are apparently now trained and authorized, to arrive with another set of $4,500 batteries. Zenernet's communication is extremely poor requiring numerous calls to receive updates and schedules. Generac is worse leaving the repair crew waiting... Read More

Zenernet Nightmare Zenernet has a lot of good reviews. Probably because they start asking for reviews prior to performing any work. Our experience with Zenernet has been a nightmare. We signed up in March and our panels were not fully installed until September. Even then, we had to ask them to come back to correct framing sticking out from under the panels. Their contractor fixed the problem on one side and left framing sticking out the other side. They also did nothing to prevent pigeons from nesting under the panels. Our roof is now covered with pigeon poop. Upon inspection of our roof, we discovered numerous cracked and broken tiles leading to, surrounding and even... Read More

My rep was not prepared with the usage data I had sent him, and didn't know basic facts about solar in California. Was disappointed to learn NO 24 hr telephone hotline; NO online account monitoring. Private co, so how long will they be in business?
