Everykey is a password and access manager started in 2015.

Its main offering is a device that uses "military-grade security" technology to help users not only store their online passwords in a centralized location but also access their home or car without the need for a physical key.

Everykey - Overview

Everykey is a password manager-like Bluetooth device that proposes to perform multiple functions. The system consists of a small, rectangular unit around 1 inch long, and the Everykey App for iOS and Android.

The main thrust of Everykey's marketing is that customers will never have to remember a password or carry actual keys again. Everykey stores passwords for all of your desktop and mobile devices, and unlocks them via Bluetooth depending on your proximity to the device.

The unit also stores website and other passwords for online accounts and automatically unlocks those as well when you visit the particular site. When you walk away, Everykey locks them back down.

Additionally, Everykey's password manager features allows you to change and generate secure passwords at will and store them in the app. This is more in line with traditional password managers which enable users to rotate random passwords for enhanced security.

If this wasn't impressive enough, Everykey also purports to replace physical keys as well. Working on the same proximity model, Everykey can unlock your car or front door to your home they are Bluetooth enabled.

The device can be worn around the wrist in a band accessory, or attached to a keychain.

Everykey Functionality

Although there were a few blips with Everykey's launch, the company seems to have ironed out the compatibility issues many customers were complaining about. The device we tested worked as advertised.

Setup was straightforward and fast. Everykey operates via an application for the desktop environment to lock/unlock the computer and as an extension for the browser to remember logins and passwords. When first logging into a website we were prompted by the Everykey to save the login info.

We then logged out of the website and upon returning to the login screen, the Everykey extension logged us in successfully for multiple sites. The app itself is installed to the 'startup items' of the OS, so it is running when the computer is booted.

When one quits the app, the key no longer will work to unlock the laptop, or work with the browser to fill in login info.

The only issue we experienced concerned the locking and unlocking of the desktop. The laptop is supposed to lock when the device is no longer in range, which in our test seemed to be about 30 feet.

The OS app was slow in recognizing the Everykey was out of range. However, when we returned to the computer, the app was very quick to recognize the Everykey was back in range and unlocked the computer promptly at around 5 feet.

Everykey Password Manager +

Everykey is a cool little unit that eliminates the need to remember passwords. After a bumpy start, the company is delivering on its promised functionality.

The Everykey we tested worked well and had all the utility of a password manager with a lot more. The locking/unlocking of the desktop is ideal for those who work in an open environment and not want people peering at their desktop every time they leave their desk.

All in all a unique, useful, and fun gadget.

Solution does not work as advertised for OSX or iOS. It constantly looses contact with the bluetooth key and takes over a minute to load the usernames/passwords into the login window screens. While the idea of the device is good, execution falls significantly short. Dont waste your money

Have had two of these. Both stopped working. Went through all the on line help from them. Still do not work. Waste of money.

8 negative comments yet the rating is 4.75? Could the fact that you make money if someone clicks and buys undermine what you claim to be. If you have ever said to yourself, " I wish I had a device that anyone could use to get into my accounts much easier", then this is for you. The only security that may keep them out is the fact that it rarely connects and works.

Over the past year or so since the pandemic hit, I have been trying out new products to pass the time. EveryKey is a great 'idea'. No really, it truly is! However, the features that are important to its success are "in development", so I can understand where that negative reviews are coming from. On the other hand, given it's current capability vs. its promised capability, the device has no additional benefits that any browser, cloud-based keychain, or cold-storage device does not already offer at a far much less cost (if not free) to the consumer. In short, EveryKey should have at least waited to release its product until they were actually finished or at least in late-beta... Read More

This device is no different then iCloud Keychain. It DOES NOT open car doors. It DOES NOT open Bluetooth door locks. It DOES NOT lock or unlock an iPhone. It DOES NOT automatically unlock/lock apps or websites without clicking on auto fill. All this is admitted by the company. They said all this is in the future, yet they still advertise as if it already does this stuff.

Disappointed. Just received my Everykey and when I try to download the required app, I get a "502 Bad Gateway" error. Seems they are no longer on the WWW. So this goes straight from the mailbox to the trash can. Buyer beware. Here is the web address they give, www.everykey.com. Give it a try and see if it works for you.

Disappointing. I thought it would store the passwords on the device, and as such be secure as long as I am in possession of the key. However, with the latest software update, it is evident that the passwords are not stored on the device, rather stored in the cloud, as you can use a password *without the everykey present* to access your passwords. Battery life does not seem to last more than a day or 2, and drains even when it is turned off. When connected, apparently the power has to be greater than 50% to work properly, even when the device is right next to the computer. While it is good at generating random passwords and entering those passwords in websites, it has potential... Read More

When I first got my Everykey, there were a lot of problems with it. It wouldn't connect to BLE devices, the software only would save manually entered passwords(or in some cases wouldn't save anything at all, and the autofill just didn't work. Thankfully, I didn't just throw this in the trash and give up, they updated the Windows 10 Desktop software and Firefox Add-Ons and it finally works as advertised! They also updated the android app to support unlocking Android phones and autofilling passwords! Over time it has gotten better and better. Yeah, the battery doesn't last as long as they advertised(more like 2-4 days), but well worth the headache I used to have, being an IT... Read More
