WebSafety is a solid and tested choice for parental control apps, especially for consumers who want a little bit of everything. With strong usage control and usage scheduling, as well as pretty good monitoring features, parents end up getting a lot for the cost. The app issues real-time notifications to the parents' mobile device which visually registers on the "parent dashboard." Location services are also a big plus as they usually aren't offered for this level of plan. WebSafety does monitor social media and photos, but as of now only monitors Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, the service offers a summary of posts, images, and comments that parents can examine in one place. However, it does not offer the ability to monitor the messaging features of these platforms that many kids use instead of text or email.

WebSafety Features & Services

Features & Services - 4.5 / 5

WebSafety provides a sort of hybrid parental control app. Whereas many of the companies we evaluate concentrate on filtering, monitoring, or usage control alone, WebSafety does all three and also features location (GPS) services, including geo-fencing as well. In terms of filtering, WebSafety does not block entire sites or apps per se but does maintain a database of questionable sites and apps that parents can add and subtract from. Parents receive real-time notifications on the parent’s mobile device dashboard if their child has attempted to visit these sites or download any of the listed apps. For SMS, WebSafety notifies the parent if vulgar, derogatory , or words of concern are sent or received by the child. This allows the parent to become aware if cyber-bullying or other dangerous activities are being considered or taking place. Additionally, WebSafety allows the parent to remotely disable all functions of the child’s mobile device, except making a phone call, in order to control the child’s usage of the mobile device.
