I overlooked the fact one of the packers helped himself to a beer from our fridge. Then I was forgiving of the call I got asking if we had a kayak (which didn't end up being ours). I got a little frustrated when they delayed our shipment. But the last straw was when, for no apparent reason, they wouldn't release our international container, which only the 'agent' had the authority to release. It accumulated fees of almost $2,000. They ignored all my calls and emails whilst customs is hounding me. I paid the money to release it but still waiting on a refund from 2 months ago! This company is a con. These glowing high point reviews are bought and most are fake. They charged me 6000 over their binding estimate. Since you pay 25% upfront and is non refundable moving day you are trapped when they hit you with the higher bill. They are a broker of movers. Go to the better business bureau and read the one star reviews,not the planted good ones. Realize that one in 10 people who get screwed write a review and this company has hundreds of complaints. AVOID.
Somehow (buying reviews?) this company has many 5-star reviews. DO NOT TRUST THEM!! Or the good reviews you read on so many moving websites. Seriously, how this company got so many websites to rank them highly is just beyond me. Here's my story: I got quotes from four different companies. They were the only ones who didn't come out to do an actual inventory (red flag 1 - unfortunately, I knew none of these red flags at the time). They came in lowest, so I hired them. I chose International Van Lines for my move, not realizing that they were a broker and would assign my move to another company. The company they sent to move me was Cosmos Van Lines. I had gotten an estimate from Cosmos as well, but I had a bad feeling about them because their estimate was much lower than anyone else. The movers did show up on time but they seemed inexperienced. My daughter and I had moved a large chest of drawers with less trouble than they had with the matching dresser, which was smaller. This was the worst moving experience, I ended up having to rent a uhaul and take an additional 4 days off work to complete my move despite paying them a lot of money and having a contract. To start with the company is just a middleman, they contract out with smaller movers to do the work. The mover they contracted with for my move had different rates and policies than what I had agreed to and tried to bully me into agreeing. Never once in the process of getting a quote from IVL did they tell me they contracted with other companies or talk to me about overage potential and what would happen. Jeff 12/16/2021 I chose International Van Lines for a residential move from Minnesota to North Carolina. My choice was based on research showing IVL as #1 rated by Forbes and Newsweek and endorsed by the PBS show "This Old House". Unfortunately, the move was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I was notified 2 days before the move date that IVL's "preferred carrier", Household Goods Moving Experts, would be handling the move. HGME arrived on moving day with a truck too small to accommodate our furniture and boxes, despite my completing and updating detailed inventory documents. I've had a horrible experience using International Van Lines for my recent move. I do NOT recommend using this company for your move, and am detailing my experience with them below: - The only satisfactory part of my experience with IVL was the timing of my pickup and delivery. My items were picked up and delivered within the expected window. I received my items one week after they were picked up. - My first frustrations occurred with the moving teams who assisted me. International Van Line review I should have read the reviews. As most people have written so far, the process to schedule the move and evaluate the initial cost worked seamlessly: the videos of all rooms can be made quickly and upload in no time. But the problems started when the movers arrived. First four (4) movers were supposed to show up. Only the driver was there. He went through the house and evaluated what we had as if he had not seen the videos or the list of all our items. Customer service of this company is not efficient.
You can't get to anyone through the phone. The company is asking you to leave a message and promised to call you back, but they don't follow the promise.
If you put deposit , it is extremely hard to get it back.

We are so disappointed with your service. A phone call would be appreciated. You promised me efficient prompt service and I have received none. How can you run a business like this? I am in my home and I have no place to sit or sleep, no clothes to wear. I was hoping to be able to give your company rave reviews but can you give me guesstamet as to when I might receive my things? This company is making us miserable. We contracted with them to move our worldly possessions collected during 50 years of marriage from Eugene OR to Grand Haven Michigan. They were supposed to pick up on Feb. 10 but they were a day late which caused us to set off across the country in the midst of horrible weather. We pushed on to get to Michigan because we told them that we would be available for delivery on Tues. Feb. 16. They still have our stuff and are now saying maybe 4 more days. I AM LIVID! I have had a nightmarish experience with International Van Lines, avoid them, they are dishonest. On August 10, 2020, I contracted an international "door to door" move of all my family's belongings from California to Ecuador. Our property was loaded onto a shipping container by the moving company on September 10. As of December 15, 2020 we have not received our shipment and IVL does not have an estimated delivery date and we received a fine from customs because IVL abandoned our importation process. I hired International Van Lines to move from California to Canada and, at first, the communications between myself and IVL were always swiftly answered and it seemed like things would go well. Once my deposit was given though they contracted our move out to AMS Transportation Services and from there it went steadily downhill. I was originally given an average of 3-6 days for the goods to be delivered from the time of pick up, but it took 4 weeks before it actually was delivered (and this was with daily phone calls and emails to dispatch and the IVL employee I'd been dealing with trying to get our stuff delivered in time for our wedding). International Van Lines moved our personal belongings from NY to Arizona. Their services throughout were very, very bad. They shipped 5 days late, delivered 11 days late, damaged and/or did not correctly assemble several pieces, their customer services was rude, inefficient and not capable. I would NOT recommend using them at all.
I used IVL to move from California to North Carolina for medical school and it was ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE. First, on the pick-up day they never showed up. Once I called to ask about the delay, we were told that they “must have contacted us to let us know they would be one day late”, but we never received any communication. The next day, they were 2 hours late and again never kept us updated. Second, once they arrived and had half the stuff in the van I was informed that I would need to pay more than double what I was quoted. Missing items broken and chipped furniture, poor communication will never recommend IVL
Did my research and picked IVL over others because of their ratings and the almost too good to be true estimate they provided. And there was good and bad, but a lot of disappointment. 1. On the first day the crew showed up 6 hours late and I could get no one from IVL to answer my calls. Basically, I was left in the dark with no support. Meantime they had their down payment. 2. Afterwards, the crew showed up about 2-hours late on each of the other three days of the move. 3. Forget their price quote, every day their crew chief was putting a change order in front of me. Do not use this company if you want to protect you life belongings. I paid for a full service to move from Florida to Colorado and everything went great with the Florida move part. The Colorado part is another story. They moved my belongings into a smaller truck and jammed it all in. They travel last hour with the back door open as my items was fired to fit into a smaller truck. The local team had no tools and the local agent she was n to aware of a full service move. Many items are missing and broken. I have pictures of all and to make it worse the local team lied about missing items that were broken locally and thrown into a dumpster. International Van Lines handled my move and did well. As a veteran I've moved all over the world and 7 times in the sates alone. I've worked with every major van lines and moving company nationally. I found IVL online after doing a month of research. Their cost seemed reasonable and the sales rep Justin was knowledgeable, so I booked with them. The whole way through I didnt feel any unease, in fact they stayed on top of everything and made sure it went smooth. I was pleased with the overall outcome and will use them again for my next move.
I used IVL for an out of state move to Seattle. The movers were on-time, packed excellent and were all very polite. The whole move took about a week door to door. I got everything with no damage or issues so I would use them again!
Quality move! Everything went accordingly. My sales rep Alex was great. He walked me through the process of the move and made sure everything lined up with my request. The pick up in TX went as well as the delivery in Phoenix.
Excellent experience with IVL. I spent countless hours looking for a mover. IVL came highly recommended from several third-party websites. I contact them and Justin, Karin and Lisa handled my request. The movers did a great job packing, loading and delivering. Moving is very nerve wrecking so I was especially pleased that I found a good company.

My move went great! Our sales rep Justin was very detailed and made sure everything went according to plan. My move was for a 4 bedroom house from FL to IL. Movers were on-time, packed well and I got my stuff in a weeks time. I received everything with no damage and would use them again.
Move from Florida to Maryland. The truck was an hour late arriving because they "had trouble getting help." The "help" they did get was day labor that had zero experience. Didn't know how to carry, stack or store any of the goods. Two hours after arriving they got into an argument with the driver and left. The driver and I both called IVL and were told that a replacement crew would be there within the hour. Four hours later, I still have a moving truck in front of my house and no replacement crew.
