Used Skaleski moving, an Allied agent in Green Bay. Highly recommend. Moved December 2020, from Green Bay to Portland, OR. Sean gave a competitive estimate. John and Glen did the packing of anything that would break if I threw it across the room. Elevator in building quit working. I was traumatized, movers were not. John, Corey and Mike carried everything down from the 4th floor, carefully and cheerfully. Can’t say enough about the service I received. Move 205600.
I give them 5 Stars for consistency - being consistently bad. From picking up the stuff to delivering, it was a nightmare. I move every 3-4 years and this time we picked Allied - HUGE MISTAKE. If you want to pay premium and get good service, Allied is not the one you should be considering (we paid $8500 for 4 bedroom move in two parts and self packed a lot of stuff). We had sold our house and were in hurry to leave. Movers showed up at 1 PM whereas promised time was 8 AM! It seems like that Allied had determined that getting the A/C fix was more important than keeping promises with customers and A/C can’t wait until the afternoon! I hired a moving company by the name of Hilford Moving and Storage based in Ventura , CA to move me on March 14, 2020 from Camarillo Ca to Woodland Hills Ca. This company advertised their association with Allied Van Lines. That was one of the main reasons I chose to hire them. It was the worst decision I could have made. I have moved many times within the state of California over the last 30 years using various moving companies and I have never had any major problem. This company was a disaster! I hope by sharing this horrific experience that at least 1 other soul will be spared going through the stress, exhaustion, and depression that I've experienced by making one of the most costly mistakes of my life. I paid dearly for this interstate move. Both my husband and I are young professionals. When he was relocated for his job, we had to sell our house and move to another state. To save the inconvenience of taking time off work from our demanding jobs, we planned on using a significant portion of the proceeds from our house to pay for professional packers and movers. This company has been horrible. I am still waiting on my delivery! They had a projected delivery time over a 2 week period. I am moving out of state but it's not that big of a move and it is not across country. They said my possessions would be delivered on July 2nd. Now they are saying that they have no one available to drive a truck down to my house and they have not idea when there will be someone available. I do not understand how a company this reputable, can get away with broken agreements. Allied van lines are horrible. They stole stuff, they broke stuff, they didn't deliver all our items. Trying to submit a claim is a joke because they cover nothing. They lie to your face. Never use this company. It's a scam company and they are all scammers and charlatans right from the sales guy to the claims people. They lost/stole expensive jewelry, (funny, nothing cheap was missing) they broke tables, jewelry boxes, stole/lost expensive spices. boxes and boxes of movies and CDs were lost. The claims process is just a formality so they an deny your claim. A horrible company, a horrible choice and a big mistake. Don't ever use them. If I could give zero stars I would.
Allied Van Lines is just plain crooked. I signed on the dotted line for a "not to exceed" guaranteed price. When they delivered my belongings, they demanded nearly $2000 MORE, saying they would not release my possessions unless the total new amount was paid. Their contractors they source to do the move - a total joke. They loaded hand trucks so high that they couldn't see over them, repeatedly slammed into stacks they couldn't see to avoid, causing boxes to tumble and more items to break. Items that were wrapped at the time of pickup were unwrapped at the warehouse with severe damage ensuing, resulting in over $10000 worth of items ruined. Their so-called insurance? They cut me a... We are currently in litigation with Allied for breach of contract. Do NOT prepay the entire amount of the contract. If they decline to negotiate a deposit/final on complete delivery contract (likely), find a mover that will. The US has corrupt federal tariffs (shocking I know) that protect interstate movers from litigation, and Allied's attornies are well versed in how to protect their movers when a delay, damage or loss occurs that exceeds the minimal insurance. If you have any service issues with your move they can't quickly address with "happy talk", they will quickly advise you to closely review your contract which explicitly says they have "no responsibility" for your... While the move itself went well, turns out one item, a five gallon drum of currency never made it to the destination. After filing a claim with the company, they ultimately denied my claim and said I had signed the document saying every item, all 155, were checked off as received in good order. I was somewhat disappointed, because they are hiding behind an unreasonable standard that because I signed their BINGO sheet, they have no further liability. Wrong answer. United Van Lines stole my currency instead of delivering it, and sold me insurance in the event that something happened, then told me that was not insurance. Sorry.
