Nationwide gets high marks for the extent of their coverage and the variety of available discounts, which include discounts for homeowners, even if the homeowner policy is not with Nationwide. It also gets points for having an extensive network of mechanics who include a written guarantee with their repairs for as long as the policyholder owns the bike.

Another pro is their policy specifically tailored to vintage bikes and scooters and - for bikes less than 10 years old - their OEM endorsement, which helps ensure that the bike is repaired with new parts from the original equipment manufacturer.

Their reputation is about average for a big-name insurer, with many customers complaining about the difficulty of getting their claims paid. However, they still enjoy great standing, a low number of complaints given their size, and remain an excellent choice in the motorcycle insurance field.

It also covers custom parts up to $30,000 as well as trailers. Unlike many competitors, Nationwide offers a distinct policy for vintage motorcycles and scooters that are over 25 years old.
