AmeriSave is a medium-sized non-bank lender, which provides first mortgages and mortgage refinancing. The company offers a full complement of loan products, including low-cost government-backed loans. Though AmeriSave has had some regulatory problems in the past, its competitive pricing and overall transparency may compensate for these issues. The company's online portal can provide quotes in under a minute. AmeriSave features a number of calculators and other tools on its website to help homeowners understand how different refinancing scenarios would play out for them. The company also offers an unusually high level of proactive customer service during the quote process that may make shopping for the best refinancing offer easier for customers.

AmeriSave offers competitive rates on its mortgage refinance products, which include both government-backed FHA, VA, and USDA loans, as well as conventional and jumbo loans. Customers can also choose between fixed- and variable-rate loans, though with mortgage rates being near historic lows at the time of this review, many borrowers would be best served by locking in a loan rate while the market is so favorable.

AmeriSave makes comparing refinancing scenarios considerably easier than many companies. The company's quote tool returns a wide variety of options and shows you how your monthly payments will change if you decide to pay points upfront. AmeriSave's website features a live chat feature. After you complete the quote process, an AmeriSave representative will reach out via chat and ask you if you need any help understanding your options or continuing with the application process. Such pro-active customer service is unusual in the industry. Speaking with a loan representative in real time, when you have all of your options in front of you on your computer, is a great way to gain insight into the refinancing process. The use of live chat versus telephone contact may be more comfortable and less intrusive for many borrowers.

Customer Service and Reputation - 4.5 / 5

Despite the considerable number of positive reviews AmeriSave has received on online consumer platforms, AmeriSave has had 14 regulatory actions taken against it by the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and 599 complaints lodged with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau over the past three years. Given the size of the company and the number and variety of loans it offers, that record isn't all that bad. Many lenders don't even fare that well. But it does underscore the need for consumers to become extremely well-educated about mortgages before they refinance a property. Many complaints in the mortgage industry can be traced back to misunderstandings about loan approval criteria, lenders' fees, and borrowers' responsibilities once they've taken out a loan.

I pride myself on contacting mangers for great service as well as sending a ding for poor service. Unhappily this is the later. Once they get your signature, it's all downhill. Curt representatives, placaters (my kind way of identifying them as liars) I will not speak to my previous exchange in 2020 as t has been too long and things may have changed, but suffice it to say it was less than satisfactory. I have been attempting to get an escrow check reissued. I contracted Covid and only the most essential activity was done for several weeks. I was told, in February, 15-30 days to reissue. Today, 37 days later, it was still a no show. I called. The customer service rep put me on hold... Read More

They are terrible!! Run away as fast as you can!! After 7 months of stalling and redoing expired rate locks at higher and higher fees and rates we called it quits and used another company. It actually worked out quite well-rates took a dive just as we switched companies, with the other company we ended up paying no points or upfront costs and got a better interest rate-closed in 6 weeks. After that, Amerifirst had the nerve to try to get our business back; an ambitious sales rep pulled our credit reports and sent a a loan packet to approve. Turns out that is illegal-the government takes a dim view of it LOL

I began an effort to refinance through Amerisave in October of 2021. I provided everything that was asked of me initially, including the $500 non-refundable fee. Shortly thereafter, my loan officer began demanding more & more information from me, a sizeable amount of which was inapplicable to the situation. Phone calls & emails went unanswered, voicemails unreturned, yet the situation never improved. I was eventually contacted by a random agent there who actually attempted to assist me, but was unlicensed, so she couldn't really do much besides send intracompany emails to other departments. As soon as I believed we were actually getting somewhere, they demanded yet another random piece of... Read More

My 29 year old son contacted AmeriSave to get an on line quote to refinance his condo. He was told he had to pay $500 before he could proceed. After several emails to my son, increasing the fees with each consecutive email, my son decided to withdraw his application. He was also unaware he would not receive his initial $500 back. It’s pretty shitty of your company to keep his $500 and the only thing he got was two email from you. In my opinion, this is very bad business practice and hope your company needed that $500 more than my son did.

DO NOT TRUST THEM! THEY ARE LIERS! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They promise you a super low rate in the beginning and 2 weeks before closing they change the discount points of the great rate you thought you locked in... Now I have to pay an extra $3,000 on closing because they increased the discount points on me. I had to call them every single day for a whole week to squeeze out the answer from them why the discount points suddenly change. and they just give me some excuses that my initial rate lock agreement had an error, blah blah blah. BTW, I am working with Jesse Cogar and he's very difficult to work with. Fun when you have a chance

Scam! Do not use this company. Most review sites are paid to provide 4 or 5 stars reviews. I had a horrible experience like many here. Check BBB for better non bias reviews. The company will pre approve your loan to take your money and then will not answer your call or email when it’s time to close on the house no matter how many time you try. It is a common practice for them. Check out BBB. Do not waste your time.

I wish I had read these reviews before contacting this company, THE WORST!!!! It has been more than a month and I have not been able to refinance. I am told that I don't qualify and my file was close with no explanation after a MONTH. To top it off they won't reimburse me the loan fee after Casey Ward the loan originator assure me that he wouldn't charge me before making sure I qualify. Do yourself a favor by saving time and not stressing your self dealing with liars, unprofessional people and worst customer service. I am amaze why is rated so highly, it should be at the bottom as one of the worst company.

Horrible experience! STAY AWAY from them. It took 9 months to process our loan. There were several times the loan originator told us the wrong thing then wanted to throw us under the bus for "never having everything at the same time." Very poor service and it really felt like a scam.

Still waiting. I went through the automated system on Lending Tree and filled out the information that gave me the best option for refinance. This was on 2/15/2021. Amerisave was the top choice it said and it had a high customer satisfaction rating. When I asked how long the process would be they let me know that it could be anywhere between 30-45 days. That was their first estimation. I was worried that rates would go up so I kept my eye on requirements so I don't miss a rate lock. I was given a 2.5% rate that expired on 4/7. I figured that was lots of time. Everything went swimmingly well. They requested the usual information and I delivered all documents by the following... Read More

On January 21, 2021 I started a mortgage refinance process with Amerisave Mortgage. My Loan processor was Bryce Powers. Bryce and I discussed the loan, including the loan rate. I was happy with the initial loan rate of 2.75% for a 30 year mortgage. I asked Bryce to “lock-in” the rate. Bryce explained that it was Amerisave’s policy not to lock in rates because “if the rate dropped, the customer benefits and if the rate goes up, Amerisave will issue an exemption to get the rate back to the rate on the signed disclosure.” This sounded like a great deal to me, a can’t lose situation. After the appraisal came in higher than anticipated, I asked Bryce what the rate would be on a cashout... Read More

Please do not use this company. They may be a highly ranked service but that "news" is mot likely bought. We spent 3 months trying to refi with them and it was a complete cluster. Multiple requests for the same docs already provided, turn and burn sales strategies and an apparent lack of knowledge when it comes to tax filings. We had a closing scheduled 3 times and they pulled out at the last second. For this great service, you get to pre-pay a fee.

Amerisave wasted my time. They wouldn't let me speak to person with knowledge about my file. It took them 3 months to tell me they wouldn't do my loan. I spent hours sending the requested documents. I paid $500 to them and did a $450 appraisal. Go with a company that will at least be responsive and not string you along.

I have bought several homes and refinanced several times. This is the worst company I have dealt with. I was told I was getting a 2244 lender credit and closing would cost around 4400 with credits. When it came time to actually close, my costs skyrocketed to 10455. This company is terrible. Most company's allow you to lock a rate. They would not. Emails are very rarely returned. Wish I would have went with my got and a more reputable lender.

This company is terrible. Started application process when rates were well under 3%. Promised good rates and got strung along for two months. Rates are well above 3% now. Still after practically begging for them to lock my rate they never did even though most companies can lock your rate same day of application. I wouldn't hear from loan officer for weeks. I would call her and there was always an excuse. Always a family emergency. I wish I saw the 100 plus bad reviews before I committed to using them. Don't make the same mistake I did. Run! The lame automated response to this review is indicative of their customer service.

I contacted Amerisave 1-6-2021 for a refinance with cash out. I worked with Andrew Conley as my agent and it was basically a seamless experience. Lots of information to gather though. The deal was done and closed and we got our cash 3-2-2021. Our timing was perfect because we got in at 2% APR. We highly recommend Amerisave.

The rate was good and the people were friendly. Their system for signing and submitting documents is garbage . I had to resubmit documents several times and couldn't esign most of them. I fired them for the hassle.

In the first interaction with my loan originator on 11/6/2021 he quoted me a very favorable rate and loan terms. He indicated that I needed to pay the $500 loan origination fee before rates increased to secure the favorable rate and terms. A few days later I accessed the loan estimate and noticed the rate was not locked in as I expected from our initial conversation. He reassured me that the rate was backed by Amerisave's reputation. As of now, Amerisave is not honoring the rate and terms originally presented to me. I allege this behavior (whether knowingly or not) is in violation Wisconsin statute 224.77.1 (b) related to bait and switch. This loan process has been very lengthy after... Read More

Excellent loan officer, very genuine and helpful. It still took 3 months to put the loan together to take to underwriting. They then denied the loan due to the condo association documents just before closing (nothing to do with my income or ability to pay the loan). I'm not sure why they didn't ask for these documents right away. They kept changing the reasoning why they denied the lone and each time I was able to refute their reasoning with facts they were overlooking. I asked them to talk to the homeowner's association manager and they wouldn't even make the phone call. They had made up their mind and refused to reassess their misunderstanding; they then refused to refund the application... Read More

Had the very best experience with Curtis Lewman at Amerisave! He stayed with me through the whole process which actually only took 20 days from beginning to end!The process was easy and Curtis was incredibly patient and helpful with my lack of dexterity uploading needed files! He was available to me day and night! I could not have done it without his help! Ps even though we closed after 20 days only, Curtis is still available to answer questions for me!!!! I don't just recommend very highly to anyone but I have also referred him to friends and family!!!! thank you, Curtis!

I wish I would have read these reviews first before paying my $500 for appraisal. 5 months and they still can't seem to get anything done. I have to do everything for them. NOT a reputable company. Anything over a 1 star review is fake.

We were looking to refinance our mortgage & a friend recommended we look at Amerisave. They had the best interest rate out of all the other mortgage companies we looked at. So we decided to use them for the refinancing. Had several issues with the initial process that delayed our closing the loan. Finally everything was fixed and after closely reviewing the paperwork we finished the refinancing. After everything was settled my wife & I came into some extra money. Our friend suggested we try to request a recast of our mortgage. I called the company to find out if they did recasts and how I would go about it. The initial representatives were very pleasant & told me who I needed to... Read More

Beware of misleading practices!!!!!! Submitted application with Loan Officer and received approval and was required to pay $500 for loan processing fee and signed disclosures. Appraisal completed and submitted all the required documentation to the portal and was told it would be 45 days to close. After 28 days contacted Loan Originator because we had not heard from him about the scheduled close process. Was told that they were waiting on a couple third party documents and it would be 45 - 60 days to close based on COVID. The following day, we were requested to submit many of the previously submitted documents again. Didn't hear back from LO after multiple attempts in inquire if... Read More

Initial refinance cash out went very smoothly. Paid $500 initial. In fact, no problems mentioned except info from my HOA. The sub helping the agent hadn't followed up but reported I hadn't had it sent. On my own, I followed up and agent said it arrived. By this time the process had run 2 months. Revised disclosures did not match what we'd discussed. He fixed it and said to make sure final was correct. He called last week as underwriter had questions "a few" questions about my condo? 2 months and questions now? Answered them --agent said "fine." Looks like everything is complete. 2 days later I got an email saying loan had been incomplete or was denied. Told to sign into Portal for... Read More

I started working with Amerisave 4 months ago. There was an initial fee of $500, which was not refunded after I got disgusted with them. Their system generates the same email for things daily, even after response. When they requested yet another copy after I had been told my file was clear, and did not respond to request for info on a several thousand dollar amount they wanted to verify (what was the use of the amount), I canceled the process. I am staying with my prior lender and loan.
