Medical Guardian Medical Alerts review
I had mobile help equipment before I switched to Medical Guardian and mobile help was a nightmare! In six months to a year I had AT LEAST 100 false "fall detected" alerts! I now have had Medical Guardian using the active guardian unit for a week and am much happier! ONE false "fall detected" alert in a week instead of usually multiple per day previously! Oddly that one happened when I removed the unit from the charger which was on a chest at neck height and placed it around my neck? Also, only ONE piece of equipment to deal with instead of 3 previously! AND that piece of equipment only needs charging every 3 - 5 days instead of daily! Negatives? Only one. Monitoring is about $10/month more expensive than previously. Solely due to that I am giving this company a 4 star rating. The only other minor negative is the representative did not discuss getting a lock box for the key, and once I received the unit had to call back and order the lock box, delaying use of the unit about a week! Come on people! You MUST have a lock box if you use this unit. You DO NOT want the emt's kicking your door down if you have an alarm and ESPECIALLY not for a false alarm! This WOULD have happened with the previous mobile help unit had I not had the lock box. I had a false alarm when the pendant was on a dresser immobile and I was on the phone and did not hear the false "fall detected" alert. Next thing I know, the emt's were at my door yelling "are you ok?"! SO......Medical Guardian, tell people they NEED the lock box, or better just include it in the equipment! Also lower the price of your service to a competitive level! Then you would get a 5 star rating!

I prefer to wear the alarm using the belt clip, rather than around my neck. It will not stay clipped. Very poorly made. Called company to tell this. Customer service rep said , "I've never had anyone else who wore it on belt." Really ? C'mon ! Company answers alarm calls quickly.

I have had the old version for a number of years and have used it once. Was so pleased with the response. I have stepped on it a couple of times by accident and still such a quick response. Was so excited to get the wearable as I was wearing the old one on my wrist and it was heavy and not very attractive but cannot stand the ones around your neck. I realize some folks do not have a smart phone so that may be their best option. And the cost if half the price per month. thanks for coming up with an alternative. Fances Rang Chenoweth.

Great idea. In use is questionable. We just took a 3 day trip out of state, yet the weekly report shows we were out and about for 19 hours. Wife wears it every day yet it usually reports less than 6 days use. It is on the charger EVERY night for at least 8 hours yet a couple times a month it turns off from low battery after about 11-12 hours of being on.

I've had a 'Great Call' device for going on years now. I must be a frequent caller - seems like I fall - getting off the toilet or getting in my wheelchair - at least once a month. Besides getting stuck in the mud while wheeling around my yard or walking my dog. When I call 911 myself (one of Great Call's options), there is always an argument on whether I live in the city or county. I'm in tears before they finally agree I'm in the city. When I use my Great Call people - THEY get it straight - and the 911 people show up where I am.! Since I do walk my dogs, I *must* have a device that works everywhere. (Sometimes I drive to a park before unloading the wheelchair and the dog.) I've been extremely pleased with Great Call's service.

I called for some information for my mom. I was not intending to sign up. Robin was so good at informing me about all the services. I ended up paying for a full year and insurance by the time we hung up. He took his time and never rushed me. He answered all my questions no matter how many times I asked the same question. He is excellent at his job. I never looked anywhere else.
