This company is a true rip off. I have been with this American National Life Insurance for 5 3/4 years. I was supposed according to my agent to be making a healthy interest rates to off set my riders and fees. I paid about $15,000 per year for five and 3/4 years. I finally checked on my agent from Utah; company is in Houston and Springfield Missouri and New York. What I found out about this company in 2021 would blow your trust for this company out of the water. My fees were over $4,000 and my interest earned over the years was from .78 to 1.4 interest per year making my money shrinking. The life insurance policy would have disappeared to nothing at age 72; this was not told my... Read More
Extremely slow in processing paperwork. I needed to assign my mom's policy to funeral home. I had POA on file. It took them over 2 weeks for them to tell me what other info they needed, despite repeated requests of what else I needed to supply. Finally talked to a supervisor who told me what was needed and got them the information within an hour. Now still waiting for the paperwork to get processed. Mom had two policy's, one with another life insurance company. IT TOOK THE OTHER LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY 2 DAYS TO COMPLETE.
I do know who my policy will NOT be with.
I find it rediculas that we call cstomer support to get a simple question answered and wait fifthteen minutes to speak to a representative. When I called the automated system gave options by policy number. Example if your policy begins with UL or UH then press specific number on the phone to be transferred. My policy begins with UE. UE was not an option so had to pressee "2" and wait 15 minutes to speak to a live person who said they have to transfer me becuase my poilcy begins with "U". Ok...so if I was given an option "UE" I would have avaoided waiting 15 minutes just to be told I have to be transferred. Then when I was transferred I waited 10 minutes and the phone line was... I would suggest that customer service receive additional phone etiquette and data entry training. I have called twice and each time the representative has had a mean disposition. In addition, the data collected during my initial signup was entered incorrectly into your system and now I am being required to fill out additional documents to correct the office mistakes. I live in a household whereas another person in the home also owns policies with your company, completely separate from my own. I initially called in because I noticed that the other person was listed as a payor on the policy for my daughter. I checked the other two policies online and they had the correct payor listed... I am an heir of a life insurance policy from my dad. 3 weeks have passed and you still have not sent me the information to make a claim. I have called countless times only to hear that you are behind and you aren't certain when I will receive my paperwork to file my claim. This is getting ridiculous. Is there a main office I can come to in order to expedite this matter?
