Glassdoor gets high marks from us for its search filters and ability to provide extensive employee reviews and company information to users while they are conducting their job search. Notifications are not as customizable as other sites we rank, but still fairly standard for the online job search marketplace. Overall, a solid and integrated job search tool, especially for those who want to see employee and employer feedback.

As general use job search sites go, Glassdoor has one of the most complete set of search filters out there. Job seekers have the initial options of type, date posted, salary range, and commute distance; with further filters for city, industry, company name, company size, and Glassdoor rating. The Glassdoor rating is a 4 star rating system that is determined by the employee feedback Glassdoor collects. The resume component allows users to upload a resume file in Word or PDF, use the online resume builder, or import their LinkedIn profile (which is an extremely useful feature). Glassdoor also offers a free professional resume evaluation through third party TopResume. Of course, Glassdoor stands far ahead of the pack when it comes to the thoroughness of company profiles and employee reviews, enabling job seekers to gain unique insight into a given company's corporate culture and work environment before they even apply.

Glassdoor has courted its share of controversy over the years. It has been accused of just being a sounding board for disgruntled employees, a place where corporations can buy a positive rating, and everything in between. Although the company has a poor rating with the BBB and Trustpilot, none of the criticism seems to be about the job search component of the site, instead focusing on the employee reviews and company rankings. As strictly a job hunting website, Glassdoor has positive online feedback. Additionally, being able to find such extensive information about the inside of a company before applying is a service that most other websites do not offer.
