I am a Farmer customer but not for long. Farmers Insurance is the worse co I ever had to deal with. We had a real bad storm. My Garage had gotten struck by lightening, A lot of the shingles & paper got ripped off. As far as trying to get a hold of my agent. The guy is never in the office when I'd call. Even went there twice in person & he wasn't there. So another girl told me to get an estimate before filing a claim. Which I did almost $6,000 while waiting on an adjuster to contact me. A week went bye no adjuster. I contact my agents office & told them I still haven't heard nothing. So they gave me a number to call. Haha that # was to an adjuster in North Carolina. Back to my agents office... Read More
In my entire adult life, I have never been cancelled by my homeowners or renters' insurance companies. It is too bad that Farmers feels they need to move away from California, but no matter what, there is a population that needs insurance and what a nasty way to walk away from us because they don't want to pay out losses anymore. When you think of how long Farmers has been in the business, that's just too bad. They have received billions of dollars from their customers over these years and to walk away is really the nastiest way to end relationships. Especially when ZURICH is their underwriter. Billions of dollars in their pockets and they want to walk out on their customers in... Read More
Farmers Insurance is absolutely the most dishonest deceitful company I have ever dealt with. I have been with them well over 30 years. In the beginning and for many years after I recommended them to everyone. In 2017 they stopped allowing independent agents and started using dedicated agents and their service went downhill quickly. We have had issues with our policy every year since and the agent we were given proved to be totally incompetent. Once they charged our escrow a yearly premium every 2 weeks - They were quick to take the money - VERY slow to return it. They also insisted we have new flashing put on our roof even though we had 2 home improvement people inspect and say it was not... Read More
I’ve had Met Life since before hurricane Katrina, even though I had mostly flood damage I still received assistance from them in 2005.
It suddenly 2021 and Met Life is now Farmers. My recent experience with them in dealing with hurricane Ida has me saying “if it wasn’t for bad luck i'd have no luck at all”.
To say they suck would be a compliment.
Realized I'm paying too much money to Farmers so they could deny my claim for ridiculous reasons. You think you're covered, and you're not. Forget Farmers; done with them.
I moved to Farmers after getting frustrated with State Farm. Farmers is no better. For glass and towing on my auto, they were fine. For coming out to my house for storm damage the first time in I've had an issue with the roof, they denied and called it regular wear and tear and denied all damage claims. I'm moving on to someone else.
I deal with hundreds of claims a year. Being on the other side of claims I see what insurance companies are good and which ones are not. Farmers is by far the best home policy and I would recommend to everyone I know!
As a veteran I've used USAA for my auto and home coverage in my 34 years with USAA. I've found USAA to be very responsive, fair, and reasonable insurance company when it came to claims service. Now retired and on a fixed income, I decided to shop insurance. In short, I kept my auto insurance with USAA and went with Farmers for homeowners' coverage. Farmer was about 40% lower in annual premium over that of USAA and I felt they were a respectable company, so they should be okay. That was a big mistake and bad assumption on my part. A clear case of "you get what you pay for". In my first year with Farmers I filed a claim for damage to my roof caused by ice-damming, which resulted in... Read More
Really self serving and not customer friendly. They miscalculated and double billed after cancelling. A fiasco I do not recommend. Pros were the initial price. Cons everything else.
WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER. Save yourself the hassle and go to a more reputable company. This company is quick to take your money but when you file a claim, they will NOT-under ANY circumstance-pay up. We filed two claims with them, which costed us over $25k from our pocket, and they wouldn't pay anything. In fact, when Farmers did their "investigation", they called the flood company and asked ONE question and HUNG UP ON THEM! They were unprofessional and denied us on bad faith. They DO NOT PAY any claims-at all. My neighbors had the same problems with them and they were also told that they do not pay for their claims. I can't believe the trouble we had to go through with them for months.
Your claims leaves one lost. OK you send a claim number. Then I guess one guesses.. is this covered??? how about that???? and it is silence.. then a vendor paid by you to walk around, make a false claim and deny claim. 03 Firestorm at least covered something.. some items. But keep guessing on anything else..
We live in rural area El Dorado county. We haa had Farmers home insurance since we built our home 10 years ago. A Farmers insurance person come out a years ago and because were so close to the river and other things they lowered our premium rate. We are beyond the policy's of the county on brush clearance. I even cleared the scotch broom from our neighbors adjoining property. Any changes made have been for the good. It seems wrong to cancel a policy without having a representative come out and explain their concerns and give us a chance to correct the issue. We had to call Farmers and they are sending a person out. There are 3 homes in a 1 mile drive leaving our home. Were not a... Read More
I have been with Farmers for 15yrs. I have never asked for a dime from them. I own two homes, one is my primary residence the other is a weekend home in the mountains in Southern California. I hae owned this home since 2008 and Farmers have insured it the enitre time. I just received a notice that they will no longer be insuring my home and I need to find insurance else where. I not only have 2 homes with Farmers and 5 cars. Guess what Farmers, I will be moving all my insurance needs.
I have been with farmers for well over 40 years and have switched all my insurance needs else ware as farmers has rejected every homeowners claim I have ever made I moved my cars first and my homeowners last and will never recommend them to anyone for their insurance needs. If all you want to do is pay money and get rejected when you make a claim then farmers is the company for you.
They reject every claim . I would recommend doing your business elsewhere.
I have been with Farmers Insurance for both my main homes since the 80's and a rental since the 90's. I have never had any claims on the rental and none on the main homes except for the last 8 yrs. Had a water leak around 2005 and the last 5 years my connecting neighbor had a burst pipe which came into my unit and was paid by her insurance; a leak from the Master Bath down thru the ceiling to the family room; and a toilet input water line connector in the guest bathroom which broke in the middle of the night unknown to us. They only paid for 1/2 the damage. Today I rec'd a notice they would not renew my policy. After 48 years as a client I feel this was so unfair. None of these... Read More
We have been snowbirds in FL for 15 years, vote in FL, cars insured in FL, home insured by Farmers. Never had to make a claim. Live in a newer gated community with good neighbors that keep a watchful eye. Just notified that they noticed a change of address (during the summer months, less than 4) due to our forwarding mail during this time. They have dropped us! Fear of water damage, even though we turn off our water source whenever we leave. They claim our policy is invalid if we are out of our home for more than 10 days...unbelievable! No vacations, either???? Unbelievable!! We were never told this before during our 15 years with them.
As having switched to Farmers two years ago for our home and cars, I find it to be great & inclusive, insurance & is especially good at "proper" condo home owner insurance.
What a joke. They are hands down the worst in coverage. We have been customers for over 28 years and found out the hard way that they do not cover much at all. They have barely paid us at all. We recently found out after filing claims due to the Thomas Fire. They basically are a running joke around here. Everyone I know that has them is planning on changing their insurance coverage due to the lack of coverage and repayment. STAY FAR AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCREWED......
I just tried to file a claim. I have been with farmers for 5 years. and yesterday my roof started leaking and I called to file a claim, they took all of my information and told me that if I have a warrantee from the people that did my roof just before I moved in it was their job to cover it, or I can go to Lowes and fix my roof myself. Talk about the worst service I have ever seen. They were rude, not helpful in the least and very disrespectful to my wife who was home when he stopped by. If you have this insurance drop it and find someone else.
I've been a client for 7 years then I purchase a new home. I insured this new house with them as I had no complaint so far and prices are indeed attractive. After about 3 months of being insured, they wrote me short before Xmas to tell me they dump me. Reason? My house is built on piers and supposedly they don't do that.
They knew it, they had pictures of the ins and outs, the whole inspection report but it took 3 months and a giant fire in North Ca for them to consider I wouldn't be a profitable client to work with.
Shame on them despite 7 years of continuous service.
fter about 3 months
Farmers is a joke. We had a small hiuse fire. Jamie johnson the adjuster has under priced all of oir personals. Not to exclude half of our house hold comeing up missing with no explanation. This company could care less about its customers.
If you file a claim your insurance will skyrocket.
I have been with Farmers since 1969. They have had my car, house, boat, and motorcycle insurance. I moved to Utah 5 years ago and now have a new home covered, 2 cars, boat, and an atv. We just recently had heavy snow and sustained some water damage to the inside of our garage. They came out with a preconceived understanding that they were going to deny my claim. the adjuster spent 10 min at my house and rejected the claim. There was a tare in my flat room material that they said a contractor caused the issue. We have had no work done on the roof after solar was in stalled in October 2015. I talked with his boss and asked why we did not have a issue last year and it just showed up... Read More
HORRIBLE administrative handling of both home and auto coverage. They played games with pricing of the auto coverage based on whose name was listed first on the policy even though my wife and I are covered on all vehicles in the same manner. The homeowner policy was paid in full up front and then they added on phantom charges with no explanation. And the last straw was when they added a $60 per month fee if we would not sign up for paperless billing. Given the inconsistent and ever changing pricing, billing, and terms of their coverage,we were not comfortable not having written documentation of any activity on our policies. After a month of back and forth with the local agent and... Read More
