Some insurance marketplaces we've studied operate anonymously--a situation that leaves us doubtful about whether we'd want to do business with them. Covered, however, is refreshingly transparent about who they are, where they're based, who works for them, and what they do. This signifies to us that the company takes its responsibility to consumers seriously. The firm connects with its customers online and has an excellent, easy-to-use quote process that requires minimal consumer input and time. As a marketplace, Covered doesn't write insurance policies itself and as a young company, it doesn't yet have much of an online reputation that would allow us to make informed judgments about their customer service. Still, we like what we see so far of the company's commitment to demystifying​ the homeowners insurance application process.
