Worst provider I've ever had. They denied my wife necessary surgery to increase circulation to her foot. Now she is facing another toe amutation.

Have been trying for 4 months to get the reward points loaded to my Take Control Reloadable Rewards Card. Cigna promises if you watch videos, answer surveys, get your flu shot, get your physical, etc. you earn points that can be put on this card in dollar amounts you can then use toward your Premium or a doctor copay or a prescription. They have been ZERO help. They say to call Wellness Incentives-it's their responsibility. I call Wellness Incentives and they say "call Cigna-we don't do that". They just keep pointing fingers back and forth at each other. I've even put everything in writing and mailed it to every address I can find for both companies and no one ever responded. Sent a 2nd... I paid a years worth of premiums when I purchased a Cigna healthcare policy. A month later, I found a better policy and cancelled my Cigna policy. They refused to refund nearly $2,000 that they owed me even though their customer service clerks told me that I would be refunded in 24 hours. They lie and steal. I am currently in litigation with them regarding this theft, which includes civil rights violations, as well. Today, the news was splattered with articles telling how Cigna tried to rip off the federal government for millions of dollars, so there it is; a company full of pirates. Avoid Cigna at all costs.

About the worst customer service and satisfaction I've encountered. There's always a struggle with them even when it comes to make payments. There's never enough coverage for anything.

Nothing but trash. If your employer says they are switching your insurance to Cigna. You better beware. This company in my opinion is nothing but trash. You will pay your premiums out of your hard earned money then when your Dr. Gives you a prescription for a medicine that is a little pricey. They dont cover it. They are worthless and useless. Absolutely not a reputable company. Avoid these criminals at all costs. My employer had us with United Health Care last year and we had no problems. Meds were covered under this plan no problem. Its a whole different deal with Cigna.I tried to pick up my Viagrra and it was $900... Read More

(1) There is always a long hold when trying to reach Cigna by phone--an average of about45 minutes, just to talk to customer service. (2) Limited choices of in-network doctors. (3) The only hospital in network in my area is the county hospital. (4) I found a PCP that I like, but I was charged my copay AND a facility fee, since her office is associated with a hospital system. So really my copay for a doctor's appointment is $80, not $30.

Terrible, terrible, terrible company. The only thing they work hard at is finding reasons to deny coverage. Avoid this company if you have any choice in the matter.

The minute I retired or meet my out of pocket maximum, this damn company turns everything down. In 32 years of having insurance, this is the worst medical coverage insurance company ever. All they do is turn everything down as not medically necessary. I have to have a disc in my back fused that’s causing me severe pain down both legs and feet and they are refusing the fusion as “not medically necessary”. The only way I can function is with pain meds. Guess they don’t give a crap about the opioid crisis or my quality of life. All about the money. I’m hiring an attorney and adding pain and suffering to my lawsuit!

This is the absolute worst insurance. Half my medical providers are dropping them. They refuse almost every procdure, claiming "not medically necessary" even for procedure lime an endoscopy which is literally the only way to check for esophageal cancers.

Y'all should be ashamed! My niece had an accident nearly a year ago and you're still dragging your feet paying the DENTAL CLAIM. Every time you turn around, you ask for another form to be completed, ANOTHER HOOP TO JUMP THROUGH. WHY CAN'T THIS ALL BE DONE AT ONE TIME? You are happy to collect premiums for employers but you sure as heck don't want to pay to help a person get back to being able to eat properly. She lost her teeth in the accident...was told there was no coverage, then told there was which means she lost 6 months of time to get all this done. Now you're dragging your feet...gee, the one year anniversary is coming up...then you'll be absolved from payment. You have... Read More

Worst customer service ever! Cannot even make my first payment without NUMEROUS problems! Gave me info to pay online that is incorrect for a new subscriber. More phone calls. Sent me a link to pay & that does not work either. Finally mailed a paper check on Dec. 9 & as of Dec 27 it's still not cashed. They have no idea where my payment is at all. My insurance is going to lapse Dec. 31. Got customer service in Philippines, first person didn't inderstand English. Got a supervisor who did nothing but lie to me & was arrogant & rude. Called Member customer service & have now been left on hold for 38 mins so far "for checking" & apparently have no intention of ever coming back on the line. I... Read More

Customer Service is HORRIBLE! I have been calling numerous numbers for the last hour and a half to get one questioned answered. Thought I finally had the right number (From the benefits summary) and then they Transferred me, after speaking with someone that does not speak English well, to an Agent who could not answer the question. The run around is not worth it. Can't imagine really needing someone to talk to about Health Concerns.

First of all, the data shown in the chart needs to be updated for 2022 pricing. All of the out of pocket maximums have GONE UP. All of the premiums have GONE UP. All of the coverage amounts have GONE DOWN. Second, this conglomerate needs to be put under a microscope for breaking anti trust laws. Cigna insurance is everywhere, you can't get away from it. They don't pay for anything and aren't really an insurance company at all, in fact they're sort of middle men that negotiate pricing down for services. I don't need that. Cash pay individuals pay far less for medical services than those of us with Cigna "coverage". Paying premiums to this company basically amounts to throwing your... Read More

I'll say that I would not recommend CIGNA as a medicare advantage program. It is amazing to me that CIGNA is rated as one of the 10 best. What is this based on? Profits? Certainly, CIGNA has improved its profits! Don't be fooled by these ratings, read the reviews. Know for certain that you will not have good customer service. Services and prescriptions will be questioned, even though your physician needed the service or prescription requested to provide the care you need. My personal experience has been an awful experience for me. I have spent hours on the phone and transferred on average four times per call. The result was that they didn't know and no supervisor was available to talk... Read More

This plan covers essentially nothing. My wife nearly died and needed surgery and we have to pay for it out of pocket because Cigna didn't cover any of it. My surgery was denied a few days before it was supposed to happen after Cigna approving it in advance and forcing me to go through hell for 5 months fulfilling their laundry list of requirements. Now we're in debt from saving her life and I'll barely ever be able to walk again because they decided it would cost them too much money to provide a medically necessary service.

Three Physical Therapy Sessions. Three. That is all they would cover instead of the 12 my doctor ordered. Despite my extensive cervical spine history and that this was caused by a new injury (fall). They decide they knew better than the neurosurgeon and only authorized THREE sessions.

Cigna is the worst health insurance provider I have ever been on for mental health. I recently had a job change that forced me onto Cigna. My wife and I both lost our therapists and after finding that many, many mental health providers do not take Cigna, I reached out to friend that works in mental health. He said that Cigna does not reimburse enough to make mental health providers choose Cigna. So we are left with only the best of their in network providers that are accepting new patients during a world wide pandemic. Cigna should be ashamed by how they leave mental health patients with fewer options than their competitors.

My company went to Cigna recently so I have NO choice but to use them. They are HORRIBLE. My wife was all set for a procedure that she really needed to have and the day before the procedure, it was cancelled by Evicore. Evicore is a joke. They are a third party company that Cigna uses to approve procedures. Or should I say RARELY approve procedures. I guess they can't do it themselves (great company huh). 90% of my wife's doctors didn't take Cigna and refused to take them as we were told that they are impossible to deal with. I have come to find out that is very true, and have now we have to try and find new doctors for her that do take Cigna. Needless to say, that search isn't going... Read More

Cigna is sub par at best. I am on an employee self funded administered by Cigna plan. We cannot get accurate information and have been given lots of misinformation including misleading and reduced benefits. I was told by a Cigna supervisor that they do no have to follow Oregon Law with this plan (Regence administered the same plan and they followed Oregon law) and that Maintenance of Benefits from our old plan do not apply even though this is part of our Employee contract. (again, not a problem with Regence)Their EOBS do not tell you any specifics about provider, cost, allowable and billed amounts, etc. I was told by the Cigna liaison to our plan that Ash(clearinghouse) would be removed...
