They may be fine for some things, but in some ways they are very shady. Our sample was contaminated (not their fault, that's not the problem). Therefore, I tried to cancel our account. When you call, the people say they cannot close the account for you but someone from a different department will call you back. I have tried SEVERAL times, and no one has ever called back--they just continue to charge me to store a sample that cannot be used. I hate to say it, but it seems like they may be a scam, or at least partly a scam.

They make it difficult to close the account. Even after submitting all the paperwork, my credit card was still charged and I had to call three times for the charge back. It seems there is a mess out there.

I’m sorry that your choose small companies in the beginning and acquired by Familycord. If you chose bigger companies, this wouldn’t be issue then. I think Familycord is great and has very good customer service.

I have a terrible experience to store my cord blood with family cord bank. They said they are the same company with CPR, but the price is different. Unprofessional and indifferent customer service. I am tired of talk with them. Anyway, for your happiness and cord blood safety, don't use their service.

A follow up comment, several a weeks ago they agree to send a form to have the fraudulent medical billing written off. I still got another bill from them I called, I spoke with katrina MacDonald and she said the fact it had previous review by the PA Attorney generals office and they didn't think we owed them anything, didn't matter to her. We still owe the money.

I just called FamilyCord and told the gentleman what I have been paying since signing up in 2007. He said they had problems with the integration of some accounts and were hoping people would call. He adjusted my rate to the annual amount I agreed to back in 2007.

I totally don't trust this agency at this time. Here's why: Their price has gone up with NOTHING TO SHOW for it. Someone’s pockets are getting lined! You’d think for that kind of price increase per client, they would be more accessible, have more information on their website, and have a section that caters to billing questions/concerns for their current clients. But instead, they have bankers’ hours PST, and their website does not even tell you that! If you call after hours, the recording says, “Thank you for calling Cord Blood Registry. Our office is now closed”. NO mention of what their hours are, NO instructions to leave a message. NO anything. Just an abrupt hangup. I... Read More

I agree with prior complaints. It is unacceptable to double the storage costs. They should respect our original contracts. I wonder if we would have any legitimacy for class action law suit.

Agree with all comments. Went from paying 50 to 85 , now to $150! Unethical to say the least!

I agree with Mary G. I had Corcell since 2002. I was paying only $85 annually and now that FamilyCord acquired Corcell, instead of charging what I previously was paying, I now have to pay $150. I think those affected by the merge should be grandfathered and pay what they were paying. What poor customer service.
