NOTE: On February 14, 2020, Wine Awesomeness settled a lawsuit brought by four California counties alleging that the company violated California law by failing to clearly and conspicuously disclose automatic renewal charges and terms and failing obtain their customers' affirmative consent to pay those charges. Although the company did not admit to liability, it agreed to reform its practices and to pay civil penalties and costs of $15,000.

Membership Policies

Wine Awesomeness enables you to purchase bottles of wine a la carte or as part of a membership. If you choose the membership option, you will receive three or six bottles of wine each month, depending on the package you select. You have the option to change your shipping frequency to every two or three months if once per month is too frequently for you. All you have to do is update your preferences in your online account. You can also skip a shipment or change your shipment date through your online account, as well as cancel your membership altogether. There's no cancellation fee, so you can stop receiving wine shipments at any time.

Pricing

Wine Awesomeness's three-bottle box costs $49 per box while its six-bottle box costs $79 per box. Those who sign up for a membership also receive free shipping and 20% off future orders. These prices are in line with many of its competitors. You can also purchase single bottles of wine, with most options ranging between $15 and $22 per bottle.

Product Variety

Wine Awesomeness has a good variety of wines from all over the world, including wines from the U.S., France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. You can filter your options by location or by the type of wine. Choices include organic, rose, and sparkling wines as well as canned wines.

When you sign up, you decide if you'd like to receive red wines, white wines, or a combination of both. You may update these settings at any time. You aren't able to choose the types of wines you'd like to receive beyond this, but that's intentional. Wine Awesomeness's goal is to expose you to different types of wines you might not otherwise try on your own. You're always free to supplement what comes in your subscription boxes with a la carte purchases if you want to try a new wine or order additional bottles of your favorites.

Access to Experts

Wine Awesomeness doesn't provide you with direct access to wine experts, but if you purchase a membership, you get access to its Wine Cellar service. This provides you with information about the wines as well as recipe pairings. There's also a section where you can rate the different wines and make notes on your thoughts so you can reference them later. However, your ratings have no bearing on which wines you receive next.

Shipping Availability

Wine Awesomeness currently ships to the contiguous United States except Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Dakota and Utah due to laws regarding the sale and shipment of alcohol in these states.
