Overall Rating: 4.3 / 5 (Excellent)

The basic design of the Frigidaire FFLE3911QW Laundry Center has been around for decades, so people who have to have a machine with the latest technology should probably choose another model. But the age of this appliance's design is actually its strength. Digital control modules on today's advanced washers and dryers are often the first parts to break down, and when they fail they are very expensive to replace. This unit uses older-style analog electromechanical controls, which tend to be more robust and are much cheaper to replace. However, the unit's 3.8 cubic feet capacity isn't suitable for washing comforters, blankets, or even a week's worth of washing for a family of four. Also, the washer lid only opens to an angle of about 45 degrees, making it difficult to see into the washer tub and get clothes in and out. These are some of the tradeoffs that consumers make in purchasing a compact unit that fits into very tight spaces.

Some people who purchase this unit use it as an auxiliary washer/dryer. Others use it in vacation homes where space is scarce and the demand on washer/dryer capacity is light. It's ideally configured for a small apartment, a bedroom closet, or the corner of a bathroom. Although this appliance is not Energy Star-certified, it uses a very modest number of kilowatt hours of energy per year--and that is for the washer and dryer combined. The enduring popularity of this unique appliance suggests that it satisfies a particular niche in the washer/dryer market. For people who fall into that niche, this time-tested unit is a fine option.

Frigidaire FFLE3911QW Appearance & Specs

Appearance & Specs - 4.5 / 5

The Frigidaire FFLE3911QW Laundry Center is an integrated washer/dryer unit. It presents a tall, narrow profile. The top-loading washer is on the bottom and is accessible through a panel that opens upward at an angle. The front-loading dryer is on the top. The unit's analog controls are mounted between the two sections. The appliance is available only in white. The fundamental design of this product has been around for many years, though the control panel has been somewhat updated. The overall appearance is of a compact, functional appliance.

We just moved into a house that has this basic stackable model. Although the specs here refer to a fabric softener dispenser for the washer, we don’t see one. There is only one for bleach. I thought that the only alternative would be to add softener manually at the start of the rinse cycle (whenever that is, since this model doesn’t display cycle phases), but the washer lid remains locked even when I pause the cycle. I’m thinking of disengaging the locking mechanism. Any comments from anyone?

4 1/2 months after delivery the screws fell out of the vent on the back of the dryer flipping the breaker and filling the laundry room with the smell of burning electrical. It is a serious safety concern as the heating element seems to catch on fire when the screws come out. I’ve made 3 appointments and the repairman has been a no show 3 times. The unit is in a rental condo and my guests are complaining because an amenity listed is no longer available. My cleaners have to tug the laundry back to their homes to wash. Frigidaire said I have to give them the opportunity to fix it. I would not recommend the unit as there is a serious safety concern that can start a fire. I would not... Read More

If I was Jeff Bezos maybe I would just go out and buy a new washer/dryer. I spent $1300 dollars 4 years ago and every time my wash is on spin cycle I am ashamed that my neighbors have to listen to the "jackhammer" noise this machine makes. Today I decided to warn anyone that might be tempted to buy a Frigidaire product. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Repairmen have told me I'm just lucky it doesn't vibrate itself across the room. Maybe this year I can replace it. UGGGGGH!

BUYERS BE WARE!! The handbook says for the best results, ball laundry, each garment up in a ball. I have spent the last 2 hours trying to wash 2 sheets. It starts to spin, then stops because sensors say the the load is off balance. you attempt to rearrange sheets that are soaking wet -- and the same thing happens. You go down stairs, thinking your wash is done -- WRONG!! Its paused again, AND GUESS WHAT? THERE IS NO SPIN ONLY cycle. You have to RINSE AND SPIN! I HATE IT!! I PAID FULL PRICE, not used or refurbished. I have had 2 service guys to service it in 60 days, They tell me, they don't make appliances like they used to. We had our Kenmore laundry center, for almost 20... Read More

We have had this machine for less than four years and have had to have it professionally repaired at least three times. And this is the second unit - the first was was truly a "lemon" that didn't work immediately upon setup. The first repair was during the warranty period, but after that, we were out of luck. We're currently waiting for the repairperson yet again - and we have stacks of laundry that we can't wash. The advice we keep getting is that we have to "reset" it (basically cut off the power and have it start up again), but even that's stopped working. The washer won't drain and the lid locks, trapping our clothes inside. A major appliance should be dependable for more than... Read More
