Founded in 2009, Philo is the brainchild of two Harvard University students who were looking for a way around the lack of cable television service at their school. Today the company offers on-demand and live TV streaming services for multiple viewing devices. The company is located in San Francisco, California.

Simplicity is a virtue and for customers who don't want to be overwhelmed by choices, confusing cost structures, or complex user interfaces, Philo delivers the right kind of experience. While the Philo catalog can't match the breadth of some competitors'—a subscription gives you access to 60-plus channels—their offering does include many popular channels for a wide range of ages and interests. Notably, Phil customers pay just $25 per month for service. That's it. One simple price for one simple plan. For some customers, Philo might not offer the customization they crave. But we suspect that for many others, that's the easy answer they're looking for.

Philo does offer customers who are interested in a somewhat broader range of shows to watch a couple of straight-forward, low-priced, add-on channel options: Epix and STARZ.

Philo offers customers unlimited DVR storage. The app permits streaming on three devices simultaneously and is compatible with  Roku, Android Phone/Tablet, iPhone/iPad, Web Browsers, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV. We were particularly impressed by the video quality and speed that Philo delivers.

Philo does not tell you that you can't use their product if you have a VPN. They wasted a lot of my time regarding this and right now I had to cancel them because I use my VPN all the time. Now I have to wait for them to send back my Money.

Philo sucks, they always have technical problems, give lousy service, along with lousy customer service, and expect to get paid
