Launched in 2021, Paramount Plus is the newest digital streaming hub from entertainment conglomerate ViaComCBS. The subscription-based service offers viewers access to TV series, movies, and sporting events from other ViaComCBS brands. Users can stream content from networks like BET, CBS, Nickelodeon, ShowTime, MTV, and others, as well as from a growing library of original content. ViacomCBS is located in New York, New York.

Plans and Trial Periods

Paramount+ offers two subscription levels. Each gives you access to the same content as the other. You can choose based on how many commercials you're willing to watch. You can sign up for a Limited Commercial Plan (though we're not sure how Paramount Plus defines "limited") for $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year. Or you can choose Paramount+'s Premium plan for $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year and enjoy a commercial-free experience. The company notes that there are exceptions to their commercial-free experience: "Live streams like your local CBS station still have commercials and, due to streaming rights, a few shows play with promotional interruptions." Paramount+ offers a free one-week trial with both plans.

Bundles and Customization

In addition to Paramount+, ViacomCBS also offers two sports-focused subscription services, SportsLine and 247Sports. If you're a sports lover and already subscribe to either of those services, you're in luck: a Paramount+ Premium membership is already included in your package. If you're not a subscriber to either of those services but would appreciate greater access to sports programming, you might want to look into bundling services under a SportsLine or 247Sports plan. Other than bundling, Paramount+ doesn't offer the opportunity to customize. While some may consider that a disadvantage, it makes Paramount+ plan pricing simple and transparent.

Library and Available Networks

With 30,000 TV episodes and films in its pocket, Paramount+ offers one of the larger libraries of the TV streaming services we've reviewed. The service connects you with various well-known networks in the ViacomCBS family of brands, including ComedyCentral, Showtime, BET, and Nickelodeon. Paramount+ is one way ViacomCBS maximizes revenue from existing properties. However, Paramount+ may not connect you to the shows and networks you most want to watch, such as CNN or ESPN. But if you are a fan of 60 Minutes or SpongeBob Squarepants, the variety of programming offered with Paramount+ may suit you to a tee. We should also point out that Paramount+ is among the least expensive services we've reviewed.

Supported Devices

A Paramount Plus subscription allows you to stream on three different devices simultaneously. While that's fewer than some services allow under their plans and may not be ideal for large families, the difference is reflected by Paramount+'s low subscription costs. You can get two Paramount+ subscriptions for the price of some other single subscriptions. Subscribers can set up an unlimited number of viewer profiles, however.

The company lists about 15 supported devices including Apple TV, iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets, Playstation 4, Xbox, Roku, Vizio Smart TVs, and Fire TV.

How is paramount + getting good ratings. Every comment attests to the fact that is terrible. The app doesn't work. It takes 30 minutes to get the correct episode loaded, to turn off audible description and turn on subtitles to compensate for poor audio, then there's lagging or just cutting out and starting over. Every time. I will finish watching 2 shows then Cancel. No other streaming service is close to this bad. How are they still in business?

If I could give zero stars, I would. I pay 49.99 monthly for an app that NEVER,EVER functions correctly. I am very upset. I see MANY,MANY have the same issue. When will it be TRULY fixed and functional? I'm going to cancel and file a complaint. I'm being ripped off.

Paramount is the only streaming service that lags. I have multiple steaming places to go, and none of them lag. I would expect more from something that I pay for, the continuous lagging. I have a graphics card for high performance gaming, and I do not have any issues with any other movie/tv show streaming apps. I have done the usual, close it out and restart, changed passwords, shut down and restart. I also looked for support and found that unhelpful. Your streaming sucks and I do not think you have any intentions to make it better. You have no excuse to have these issues. You just plain out do not want to put a up to date platform for customers to watch without lagging. There are free... Read More

I meant to try Paramount + for one week and I was charged for one year without being able to change to a monthly plan or to cancel. The agent even tried to trick me into signing up for next year when I was trying to cancel that.

Signed up and started watching. Every few minutes it would stop then start on the tv- then opened it up on my computer same thing . Cancelled and it stated will give you seven days free then cancel. I said ok. Shut everything down and restarted - same thing. I am still being billed for the month. I am infuriated. Should state not applicable on all tvs.

Some good content, but absolutely the worst streaming service I have. I try loading both on Xfinity cable and on the internet and more often then not it won’t load. I get an error message saying something went wrong. I made the mistake of paying for a whole year.

Just signed up to watch The Masters Golf tourney. I believe I have wasted my money. The streaming keeps interrupting the viewing. I have been asked to update my "profile" when I was in the middle of watching a critical shot. The stream just stopped on one hole that was very interesting when the view just stopped for about 2-3 minute or so. I couldn't do anything and that included going to a different platform. I was then told the show wasn't available. I returned to the main menu and selected the game again and it popped right back. It JUST happened again as I type this! I had to wait, AGAIN. The app released my TV, and I went right back to watching it after selecting the game... Read More

I've had the streaming service within no ads for 2 months. I've paid for frustration instead of watching programs. Extremely slow and errors are abundant. Called customer service and they, like everyone else, told me it's on my end. I told them I have Hulu and Netflix and have no problems. They said, not on their end. I am finally going to cancel this service because $14 a month for frustration is a rip off!

I finally decided to download Paramount Plus to my smart TV to see some of the shows I don't get with my other streaming services. This is the worst streaming service ever... I tried loading many different TV shows and movies, but I was only able to open one of programs (Mayor of Kingstown), and after watching a couple of episodes, it never loaded again. It's slow to load (when it does load) and not very responsive. I called customer service several times, only to find out there was a 30 min wait time. When I was successful in reaching them, I explained to them the problem, and what troubleshooting steps I took to try and fix this problem. I told them I had already uninstalled and... Read More
