Shutterstock is a stock images service that offers licensed vectors, illustrations, photographs, music and videos to media organization, businesses and marketing agencies.  They offer different media categories that includes editorial, abstract, outdoors, nature, vintage, finance, info graphics and many more.

Services and Features

Shutterstock offers single-user subscription that allows only one person to login to the account and access usage rights to the media contents. Clients have the access to download up to 750 images per month.

Shutterstock also provides multiple-user account that lets you and your team to access your Shutterstock custom accounts. The company allows user to have a usage right to as many handlers as you need.   

Shutterstock has standard license which lets you use images for magazines, advertising posters, packaging, book, and magazines up to 500,000 copies. They also allow you to use images of unlimited viewership with the budget of video production below $10,000.

On the other hand, Enhanced License at Shutterstock permits to print unlimited packaging, books, magazines, calendars, t-shirts and posters. They also don’t limit video production budget as well.

Just starting a new print brokerage business, and I wanted to find a good source of graphics. I tried to open an account, but was told that there was a problem with my credit card. Then, my trial account was terminated. I called and spoke with a rep who said that my account was cancelled, but she had no idea and why and had no way to get any more information. I sent an email to see if I could get more info, or speak with someone who could help, but the answer was just no. No information, just a flat no. They don't want my money; that's cool, I guess I'll just fund one of their competitors.

I signed up for a free trial and decided to keep the subscription. In May they charged me multiple times for the subscription fee. When I contacted them they tried to charge me a cancellation fee. I shouldn't have to pay a cancellation fee when they are the one breaking their own terms and conditions by charging multiple times. NOT COOL

Shutterstock is running a complete scam!! Do NOT buy into the one month free because it really is not. They then charge you monthly for a year starting in month two. If you cancel any time after that, they charge the difference between the "discount" you get for the annual plan and what you would have paid regularly. The auto renewal is ON by default and the scam will continue year after year until you finally notice this weird $30/month bill! This is fraudulent for sure.

As many previous reviews indicate, ShutterStock.com turns out to be a complete Sham. I am adding my review to the 1,348 reviews from People who have used their services and 94% rated them Bad - lowest rating out of 5. on TrustPilot. On their website, I read “$2.50 per download for an image”. I only needed one image. I CANCELLED my erroneous subscription with a request "on-line" at the ShutterStock site right after I realized the problem with their pricing, on the 18th April, the day my error occurred and again on the19th of April via email. They responded with a request for extra charges to allow me to pay for 1 month instead of a Full Year I had apparently signed up for. After multiple... Read More

I did not realize that I was still being charged for an annual plan. I tried to use this once and never downloaded a single image (they can verify this on their end). After realizing that they were charging me a ridiculous amount every month for nearly a year, I asked to cancel my service and if they could refund any amount since I had not used their service at all and they charged me hundreds of dollars. They refused to issue any kind of refund and threatened to charge me a Cancellation fee. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

In this, the age of Covid-19, the inability to cancel a subscription is pretty awful. I was offered the "opportunity" to cancel my annual subscription for $100 - payment of the difference for the months I had used the service at the annual rate. Sorry. Not a company I can continue to do business with... once my horribly over-priced annual subscription expires.

I purchased 3 clips of the same video. First was a web version which was terrible then an SD version which was just as crap as the web version. I then bought the HD version and still very little difference. They refused to refund me for the HD version but did for the other 2 clips. For a company that makes its living of footage you would expect it to be HD. They must have blind chimps working for them because this video was grainy and not sharp at all. They said it was withing their guidelines. Well maybe improve your bloody guidelines. Theiving scumbags. Do yourself a favour an do not buy anything from this site. No help and no customer service, just scripted responses.
