National General Plan Cost

Cost - 4.5 / 5

In terms of price, National General offers a lot more flexibility than most in customizing plans in order to affect the premium price. The company offers lifetime maximums of $100,000, $250,000, and $1 million. Deductibles can be set anywhere from $1,000 to $25,000, and coinsurance options can see customers paying anywhere from 0% to 50% up to their out of pocket maximum. Maximums also have plenty of options and can be set as low as $2,500 or as high as $30,000. All of these variables will ultimately affect the monthly premium. Choosing higher deductibles and higher coinsurance payments will result in lower premiums and vice versa.

Firstly the agent or support will not explain the plan clearly because they know very well it is a medical insurance scam. Not their website explains anything clearly, So let me do their job. There is no out of pocket max, which is worst because depending on whatever happens to you, you could end up with paying anything to a couple hundreds to thousands or anything. Next they won’t even cover a set % just a flat amount, even from a doctor in their network. For example a $500 doctor visit from their network and they will merely pay a flat $50-75. You are gonna end up paying a huge chunk of it and regret your life decisions. I learnt this the hard way, so y’all stay away!

This is the worst insurance ever.. I am a victim of this and recommend tyou to stay away. Once you are enrolled, now you are fighting tooth and nail with the claims dept. At first, agents tell you that provides you wanna visit in their network and you are covered 100%. Sadly, upon visit, the clinic denies this insurance and asks you to pay in full and work with the insurance. when you appel, the claims dept sends an explanation of benefits and states it is out of network. Sorry. Please be advised to stay away from these cheaters and scammers..

My rating would be a big 0! This company is a major sham and they should be ashamed of themselves. They are not a healthcare company by any means. They are absolutely horrible in every way, from customer service to policies! I was flagged for a claim that they thought was pre-existing, and this halted the processing of all my claims. One week later, the Doc said all my bloodwork was normal, but that didn't matter. I had bought the tri-term plan and was told that after the first year, any pre-existing would be covered (Not that I had any). So I stopped going to any doctors for the remainder of my first year...I even had to cancel my annual Mamo for fear that they would not process that... Read More

I was just diagnosed with cancer this year 2021 in February and now this short term policy is holding up the doctors from getting me chemotherapy, or I should say the chemotherapy that the doctors need to use but no, it’s a little more expensive and not as toxic as what they want me to use. Not thinking that if I do not stay hydrated I could end up in the ER which could cost them more, and the medication to get me back on track. There is no sense of urgency at all and everyone over there are all on the same page, I would never wish anyone to have to go through what I am and I am the patient, crazy right and my wife has to sit back and listen to this knowing she may not have for much... Horrible. Anytime you make a major claim, they go back to every doctor/ facility and re-request all your records from last 3 years. They asssume everything is pre-existing until proven otherwise. They repeatedly decline your claims and make you painfully get involved to see who/what they are waiting on. They purposefully drag their feet so that any major issue you have comes to a grinding halt. I incurred a hip tear, and they refused payment for the injection from my ortho, awaiting my primary care records. They never followed up with the primary care. They just kept declining the claims. I needed to get surgery to fix it, and couldn't get authorization to move forward. So... Read More

So far, I am VERY impressed. I spoke to a woman named "Demi" on the phone. She explained the claims process to me at length and was SUPER polite and helpful. Very knowledgeable. They have to receive the reports from previous doctors and should know if we are covered. I had heard negative comments from other insurance agents, but I think they are just bad mouthing competitors. My experiences so far have been great service. Their billings systems are very accurate and understandable. Even while paying to meet our deductible of $2500, they have given us GREAT DISCOUNTS from the regular doctor's fees. I am a retired psychology professor who really appreciates honesty. Dr. Lou

I needed health care coverage for one month in between jobs, and out of desperation, I signed up with this company. In addition to the healthcare premium, I was charged a $15.00 fee for some additional service that I didn't want, but there was no way to opt out of. Before paying the premium online, I called the company to inquire about the fee and confirm that I would not be charged anything additional after the one month, because it sounded like the $15.00 fee was ongoing. I was told absolutely not, that the $15. 00 was a supplemental service that I had to have as long as the insurance was in effect, but once the policy ended, there would be no additional charges. Well, I just noticed... Read More

This company is terrible and has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. We needed Short-term insurance on our 18 year old child that is still in high school. Autopay is required and we are okay with that because we don't want to have to remember to log in and do it manually. I needed to update the cvv code on my daughter's billing information because we received a new card. I didn't need them to provide me with any information whatsoever, they just needed to take the new number. They can't do that. There is absolutely not way to do this yourself on your online account. The account is set up in a way that only allows you to change your password, and to print... Read More

Would not pay my benefits on time. I has to do all the calling and communication between my hospital and them they would ignore calls and hang up on me and the hospital in my prospective avoiding in-order not to pay my clam forcing it to go in to collections by the hospital in my name. This insurance sucks!!!! DO NOT GET IT!!!
