Through their marketplace "Health eDeals," the IHC Group offers competitive and diverse short-term health insurance plans. Available in 23 states, the premiums for the plans from the IHC Group vary depending on how comprehensive the consumer wishes their coverage to be. The IHC Group emphasizes that these plans are not direct substitutes for full-fledged ACA plans and that not everyone will qualify for short-term coverage. But those who do qualify will find plans that can cost as little as $85 per month for a 30 year-old non-smoking male. And while the plans and the subsidiary behind the policy differ depending on the region the applicant resides in, in our research at ConsumersAdvocate.org, the subsidiaries of the IHC Group are financially stable companies with reputations for good customer service.

The IHC Group Key Plan Features

Plan Features - 4.6 / 5

When discussing what features differentiate the plans of the IHC Group, it's important to consider what coverage does not typically appear in short-term health insurance plans. Consumers considering short-term policies need to confirm whether specific coverage is or isn't in the policy. Maternity, prescription, preventative care, mental health care, and coverage for pre-existing conditions are not typically covered. The plans from IHC Group allow subscribers to choose any provider, but subscribers in certain markets will have access to discounts when choosing providers from preferred provider organizations (PPOs). IHC Group intends their short-term health insurance policies for people who have missed the open enrollment period, are waiting for their ACA coverage to start, waiting for health insurance benefits to begin at a new job, or are looking for coverage to bridge them to Medicare.

Customer Experience and Financial Reputation - 4.7 / 5

The IHC Group provides short-term health insurance policies through their Health eDeals marketing arm. This, in turn, is the face of IHC Specialty Benefits, Inc. So while the policies appear to come from one company, the reality is that depending on where the consumer lives, the underwriter may one of several companies operating under The IHC Group. This makes it difficult for ConsumersAdvocate.org to give an overall score, but in our research, the companies under the IHC Group are financially stable and without significant complaints from its customers. IHC Specialty Benefits is a BBB accredited company with an A+ rating.

This must be a paid site....they are a scam! They took monthly payments from me, told me I had a 10k out of pocket max, then I had a heart attack and they only are paying 250 dollars and I have a 80,000 bill!!! They said I have exhausted my benefits and they wont pay anything more. Also there was a 2k per day hosp bed max but they wont even pay that, nor the ambulance, etc. They DO NOT have a good rating on BBB. DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS WEB SITE!!!!

on March 27th, my husband was admitted to the hospital with what turned out to be a case of Meningitis AND Encephalitis. 2 days later, as he got worse, I was told there was no guarantee that he would live through this. He was hospitalized for many weeks. On April 1st, my premium payment was deducted from our account for the next quarter, goodness! On April 2nd, while I sat vigil next to my near death parter, a woman from the hospital business office stepped into his hospital room and informed me that WE NO LONGER HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE AS OF MARCH 31ST?!?! I thought there MUST be a mistake, our premium had been deducted from our acct on April 1st!! When I called IHC (which is not... Read More

I was sold my plan from a broker Hector Benitez with The IHC Group based on what I shared with him and I was told the copay when I am sick is $50 per visit with a certain allowable visits per period. I was also told Kelsey Seybold my preferred provider is in network. It turns out my sick visit is not covered which is different than what I was told and what my plan documentation says. This is gross misrepresentation and I would like to cancel my plan immediately and recieve a full refund for my January payment. The dental plan he sold me was also useless and I have already cancelled that. Regards, Ramon Lopez
