Fiverr Resume Builders Review

Fiverr is a freelance services marketplace that helps connect businesses and individuals providing service in 300+ categories. Resume writing and resume building are just two of those categories, but the company is definitely worth taking a look at. Currently 2.4 million users worldwide are buying services on fiverr.com and the company has over 800,000 sellers pitching their digital wares on the site. This is one of those cases where "they must be doing something right." 

Pricing Transparency

At fiverr.com, each resume writer/builder sets his or her own prices. You can get a feel for the range by checking out a few profiles and offers. We found comparison shoppiing on Fiverr very pleasant. For one thing, pricing information is provided right up front on each writer's page. Many resume services bury their pricing or only make it available if you sign up to receive an email—sometimes in the guise of a free resume review offer.  There's none of that nonsense going on at Fiverr. What's more, pricing and service information for each freelancer is presented in an easy-to-read, consistent format. Fiverr encourages freelancers to provide three price/service packages to choose from and many, though not all, take the company's advice. In our experience, freelancers provide clear information on what's included in each package they offer.

Although you work directly with the resume professional you decide to hire on Fiverr, the company acts as a middleman when it comes time to pay for services.

Variety

At the time we wrote this review, more than 250 resume writers and about ten freelancers who billed themseves as resume builders were advertising their services. Few resume builder websites employ that many individuals themselves but may hire freelancers to creae your resume for you. The difference with Fiverr is that you can pick your own writer based on published samples of their work, user ratings, and detailed feedback. Resumes are professional tools, but they're also very personal. We like the idea that Fiverr customers can more research a wide variety of writers and choose one whose work reflects the style of writing they prefer. Most resume writing services don't empower job seekers quite that way.

Some freelancers on Fiverr exclusively provide traditional services like resume editing and writing. Others will write cover letters and creat LinkedIn profiles for customers. Still others can create digital porfolios for you—an important feature for graphic designers, architects, and other people who work in fields where pictures are worth a thousand words. But other professionals, including those whose careers involved writing business proposals, grants, or other verbal documents may find self-marketing vehicles advantageous, too. 

Ease of Use

While Fiverr offers a wide range of services, fiverr.com is easy to search and intuitively designed. Simply type "resume writer" or "resume builder" in the search box in the upper left-hand corner of Fiverr's homepage and watch the results pour in. By the way, it's important to note the distinction between the two. Not all writers build resumes and not all resume builders write resumes. But many do both.

Fiverr provides a selection of "best selling" offers and also a selection of "Top Pros" who have been vetted on Fiverr. But all available freelancers will appear in your search. Click on a writer's offer and you'll be taken to a page that allows you to pricing and, in many cases, a slide show of examples of the writer's work. Once you've found an offer that's appealing, you can "order" immediately online or contact the freelancer with any questions you may have.

Customer Satisfaction

Fiverr earns four out of 5 stars on Trust Pilot and a B rating with the BBB. There have been 225 BBB complaints filed against Fiverr over the past three years, but many refer not to Fiverr as a company, but rather to bad experiences the customers writing the complaints have had with individual freelancers. When you consider that over 800,000 freelancers market a wide variety of services through Fiverr, that's still a pretty good track record. Fortunately, you can check any writer's reputation on Fiverr yourself before making a decision. Since freelancers set their own terms—from one to unlimited re-writes, for example—it's important to understand the specifics of any offer before taking it.

To sum it up, Fiverr is a great option to consider because it offers a wide variety of services, provides you the opportunity to judge resume writers/builders on their own merits before hiring them, and helps you find a price that suits your budget.
