This app does what I wanted it to do, but I am not able to prevent it from being uninstalled on my child's device. Reinstalling is complicated and the customer service is terrible. They respond immediately by pointing me to the FAQ, even though I reported to the that I had already walked through all the FAQs and the app wasn't working.
So frustrating.
The concept of this app is great, but there are flaws. I love that it encourages my kids to do chores without having to be asked. You want time, you work for it. I do have issues with both their devices (iPhone & iPad) quite often saying there are problems, and we have to delete and re-install the app. I do like that if your kid tries to pull something and delete the app, you get a notification. I wish it would be more specific with apps, as I would like to be able to block certain social media outlets. I do like this app, I just don't love it.
This is a great app if you have an android phone. We moved to an iPhone and the app is pretty much worthless. I can only control bedtime and the amount of time my child can use the phone. With an Android I was able to block certain apps and put limits on specific apps. I would put limits on apps like YouTube and games but if it was a drawing app or learning app I left those for unlimited usage. It would also tell me which apps were used. Now it’s basically a timer for phone usage.
It seems to drain the battery on the devices and it's constantly wiping out my kids' apps whenever there is no wifi access. I've found it hard to manage.
Although Screen Time works most of the time, it occasionally incorrectly counts how long an app has been used, and is slow to refresh when extra time has been given for use of a certain app. For example, today I was out with my mom and her friends, with my phone in my pocket the whole time, and when I got home, it told me I had used all of my time for the day, and claimed I had spent over an hour on apps I hadn't even clicked on all day. When this happens (and it's happen several times before) my parents will try and give me extra time, but the app won't realize they gave me extra time for several hours, or days. It's very inconvenient and frustrating.
Screen Time has been so helpful, especially in decreasing the amount fights I used to have with my children over how much time they spend on their phones.
I just wanted to use this when the kids were younger. I have been very satisfied with this app and recommended it to other parents.
My son is older now and listens better when asked to shut his device off. Thank you for your help.
Our daughter has proven to be responsible with her phone by herself now. We are very pleased with the effects of Screen Time!
Great product! Well thought out. Allows for constructive dialogue between market and child. Love the tasks feature where parents reward kids with extra screentime for chores.
