Identity Guard® offers identity protection features, including monitoring certain use of customers' personal information on the Dark Web and alerts of potential bank account fraud. Parents may be drawn to Identity Guard because of its cyberbullying alerts, which monitors children's social media and flags many possible cyberbullying instances.

Though it does not offer all the features of a typical parental control app, Identity Guard does offer two essential services: Cyberbullying Alerts and Dark Web Monitoring. Both of these features can help parents increase their child's safety online in ways most parental control apps don't. There are pricing models for every budget, though not every plan includes both features. Additionally, the service has high marks among its customers, making Identity Guard an excellent choice for parents.

Identity Guard is not a traditional parental control app. Parents cannot monitor or limit their child's online activity. However, it does provide two key services that parents may find indispensable. For one, Identity Guard can detect possible instances of cyberbullying in the child's social media and alert the parent. Parents are also directed to resources from the Megan Meier Foundation Resource Center on how to talk about and respond to bullying and cyberbullying. Additionally, Identity Guard monitors the dark web to see if the parent's or the child's personal information (such as social security number, bank account numbers, etc.) is being shared on the online black market. Dark Web Monitoring helps keep parents and children from falling prey to identity theft.
