Loading went well enough for my 1000 mile moved from Colorado to Texas. Delivery however was plagued with problems. First of all, the delivery was late. Excuses, excuses, excuses from United Van Lines. Then, when the van finally got here the driver drove around on the property so he could back up the van to the front door. He got stuck and ended up tearing up so newly leveled groundwork. The driver and his crew were nice enough but seemed in a hurry to get things off the truck and head back home. I insisted on being able to check off the items on my check sheet but the crew told me. “Don’t worry about that, our driver has a system”. It was a long day. We are in our 70’s and the... Read More
I have made 3 moves (interstate and intrastate) in the past with United Van Lines (UVL) /Mayflower (a subsidiary company) and had always been pleased with their service. In October 2021 when I decided to move from South CA to Montana, I called UVL. However, when I called the number for UVL on 10/26/2021, Leo from Nationwide moving services (NMS) somehow intercepted my call. He did not identify the company he was with, just stating “Moving Company, how may I help you”. NMS had obtained the exact address UVL moved me from Colorado to Vista, CA which was my last move with UVL. Given that he had detailed info of my 2018 move, I had no reason to doubt that I was talking to UVL. I was rushed... Read More
We used Armstrong Relocation, 1601 Fullerton Court, Glendale Heights, IL for a move from Illinois to North Carolina in May 2021. The Loss and Prevention Manager there really needs a lesson in communicating with customers. We had items damaged during our move that have been denied for repairs. We purchased full value protection thinking if something was damaged it would be repaired. Some items were repaired, some we were compensated for, but a majority of the items were denied. We would like to understand how the evaluation process works and have asked the Loss Prevention Manager repeatedly to call us to explain. So far no return call.

WORST customer service ever! Still waiting for "over flow" items 30 days out. They claim they don't know where they are.... over 22 Items still missing. Customer service woman named Heather at corporate was indifferent rude and said we don't reimburse for over flow items and I don't know where your things are. I never authorized overflow I wanted it all back on Sept 10th. its now Oct 8th and still missing thousands of dollars worth of my things. I would never use them and suggest you look elsewhere. I understand logistics challenges today but its how they are handling this that makes it 10x worse than it already is.
Horrible, horrible company. Lost some of my items during the move. When going through their process denied any reimbursement, although I checked box stating "ALL ITEMS NOT RECEIVED". They say I should've itemized what was missing. With over 400 asset tags, that would've taken a week while the driver waited. Just insane. No one replies to a call request, all email replies are standard pre-existing replies.
This move was almost $13k, and they can't even treat you like a customer. You are the enemy after they collect their money. DO NOT USE.
I moved from Pennsylvania to Colorado last year and had a contract with United Van Lines. Since the United staff said I had a number of high value pieces of furniture I should buy a Full Value Insurance Policy. They placed the value of my possessions at $30,000. The example given to me by United was a damaged $1000 stereo would be worth $60 without the Full Value Policy. Naturally I bought the policy in order to be secure in knowing I’d be covered in the event of damage. Upon delivery I found 3 damaged items including a hand made chair that cannot be replaced. United offered to glue it back together. I was appalled at their attitude since I had purchased the upgraded insurance that they... Read More
This is a shady company that I will be reporting for deceptive practices. I will explain why, and I will be naming names. First, and foremost, they brokered out to two different moving companies, so all this company did was make a few phone calls, which I wish I would have done myself, and saved time, and hassle. I initially spoke to Rick Gray who gave me an estimate of $7785 for full pack, or $6955 for self pack based solely on my verbal description of the amount of stuff we needed moved. I opted for the full pack, so he sent over a contract for the $7785, but made it for self pack. I missed that detail, so fair play on your scam, Rick. The movers (from another company) showed... We just had an awful moving experience with United Van Lines. The packers showed up with attitude right off the bat because I politely asked them to remove shoes before stepping on the very light cream colored carpet. If they would have come prepared with carpet runners there would not have been any need to put them out as it seemed they had a strong reaction. When the mover guys showed up that’s when our nightmare and high stress really began. These guys were cutting corners to try and save time. They didn’t want to wrap our expensive wood furniture and we had to beg them to protect our things before going into the truck which made matters worse with their attitudes. We also asked... I'm surprised your still around. I used you for my last move. You were deceptive in sales, packing and moving. Why would anyone use you?
this company moved us from Alabama to Arkansas and put our belongings in a storage unit. When a local moving company transported the goods to our new home they found several broken items, a jewelry stand was upended with many pieces of jewelry missing when it was opened in our home. It appears they hid broken items in the back and when they broke the jewelry box they upended it and just crammed stuff in the drawers and said nothing, The driver was out of Pensacola, James Taylor bitched and griped as soon as he arrived, could do nothing but complain, took one look in a room and declared we were over weight which we were not.I hope no one ever has such a horrible experience with this... After multiple international and domestic moves, I can honestly say that the move with United was the worst move we have ever experienced. What furniture they didn't lose they broke, and then charged us for delivering it. The insurance was a joke, we bought the best insurance we were offered but it didn't replace our possessions, most of which were irreplaceable. If you take out the insurance make sure you get "parts and pieces coverage", because that's what you're going to be left with! Disgusting service.
IF I COULD GIVE THEM A ZERO I WOULD!!!!!!!! Do not use this company.... while the staff is helpful and in our case sympathetic, the pain in dealing with major claims is absolutely horrible. Failure to notice a leak in a rented van caused over 17,000 dollars worth of damage to my elderly mothers belongings. in moving from SC to MN. When they opened the moving van a week later - and took out the microwave oven, water was pouring out of the unit and it had to be set aside. In the move the water damage lead to all but one bookcase being taken back to their facility. Bookcases can be replaced but family heirlooms cannot be and a antique couch, and special edition family bible handed... Read More
I am moving from NY to ND. United Van Lines was more expensive, but was the only ones that could pick up by August 30th. The delivery date was for Sept. 19th. It is now Sept 30th and my stuff has yet to be delivered. After numerous calls, I located my stuff in a warehouse in Fargo. It appears the local movers were not equipped to make the delivery date and it is uncertain when they will be able to even deliver my stuff. It is very frustrating. I will be talking to credit card company to report this and see if my payment can be frozen. I would hate to hire a lawyer and sue to get my stuff the last couple of miles.
I contracted with United Van Lines after meeting with a representative and being assured of a quality move with care taken for my household items. As an older woman and this being my first contracted move, I was relying on assurance, guidance and communication throughout this process. I have gotten no assurances, no customer service and communication only really began when I started filing complaints. I was told my household items would be at my new home by the earliest day, July 13th. By July 15th, I started receiving one excuse after another and then told on July 19th, my delivery would be on July 22nd. After waiting a long period of time, I called Kristen Campbell to find out when... Read More
My move couldn't have been worse! United was late, did not phone me with arrival times, they lost items, including my Miele vacuum cleaner. It has been 2 weeks, and I have received no word other than an attempt to put me off with an offer for half of what my claim was. Since I refused, I have heard nothing.
Bottom line: Don't use them!
They did not return several calls, several emails, made an appointment and cancelled.
Look for another company.
Terrible company. The salesperson was horrible, general manager not great, the people in the office were lovely but they are only there M-F 9-5 and really cannot help with much. My move was a nightmare - poor communication, left several items and then didn't tell me my delivery window until almost a week after I was loaded - and treated me like I was a bother to them. Will never use or recommend them.
We had United Van Lines move us from Mpls, MN to Fort Myers, FL. We did all of our own packing except the crating of a grandfather clock. We got our packing supplies from them, they were good supplies, but a little pricey. United did a wonderful job with the move. Nothing was damaged and the van arrived within a couple of hours of the expected time. I would highly recommend them and plan on using them again.
My family and I have moved 5 times in the last 11 years. All of these times we have used various moving companies. Our fist experience 11 years ago was with United Van Lines. It was outstanding and everything just shy of being perfect. Since that time we used many other companies as a result of the concern for cost. All of those experiences were decent but pretty much mediocre. This last move was from West Palm Beach to San Antonio. We paid $10K out of our own pocket to have United to move us. They were not the cheapest but our first experience was such a positive one that we wanted to have that same experience again. The packing experience was a JOKE! We were sent 2 packers... Read More
We hired United to pack the entire contents of our 5200 sf household goods in Washington state, then store everything for 9 months until we moved and found a new residence. Our experience was bad from the beginning. The packing was hap-hazard, boxes poorly labeled, contents barely identified and also frequently inaccurate. Then sometime during the storage process and transferring to a carrier to deliver our goods to Colorado 9 months later, 4 boxes were totally lost. Unfortunately, two boxes contained over 12 years of family photo albums that are irreplaceable. United never advised us to list these items as "high value inventory" so the handling would have been more secure. Instead, they... Read More
