I arranged for them to move me from Maryland to West Virginia. As it got closer to the move date, whenever I called to verify that I was on the schedule I could never get an answer. Finally four days before the move a very nice lady in Florida called me and arranged for the move. Talking to Lisa was the best part of this entire experience. I had several pieces of furniture damaged and antique glassware. This same furniture was moved from Alexandria, VA to New Orleans, LA and then to Southern Maryland with no damage at all. BEWARE! I suspect all of the positive reviews here are fake... They offer low bids that seem too good to be true after shopping around and all the horror stories you hear and read about, but.... They will jack up the price after the fact, and if you can't pay the new price (thousands of dollars) they keep your entire house full of things until you can (assuming you can ever afford to pay). Stuff is still in their possession after months, they also stop responding and now ignore the letters from lawyers. No cash, no response, no stuff.... Moving Nation gave us a special ‘piggyback’ discount that allowed us to save hundreds of dollars, which was really nice of them. The managers of this company are genuinely nice people. The movers work hard and do a great job. I am a guaranteed return customer.
A one star rating is too high for Moving Nation is too high-- there need to be negative stars for companies like this. I have moved many times in my life and Moving Nation is, by far, the worst I have encountered. From top to bottom the employees are dishonest, rude and unprofessional. The dates quoted for pickup and delivery are never met. In fact, I did not find out about my pickup date until the drivers were on the way to my house. We missed our flight to our new home because the driver did not show up until 9:30 PM and could not finish until the following morning. Since this was the first time that I was going to hire pro movers, I asked around before making my final decision. Among the factors I considered were the online reputation (through reviews like this one), whether there were any complaints in the Better Business Bureau for the company, and the cost of the service. I made the final decision after speaking to the different companies over the phone and assessing whether they seemed genuine and reliable. My delivery was delayed a couple of days but it was out of all our control with flyovers and interstates being closed and all. Other than that, a nice, effortless move that got all my things to me amidst all the chaos going round.
I was recommended this company by a colleague who had used them last year and praised them to the skies. They are certainly deserving of praise for their strong work ethic, honesty and price transparency. I am already recommending them to people I know.
I have moved 14 times in 33 years. I have not used every moving company but this is the worst moving company I have ever used. Below is a summary of why this is the worst moving company I have used. (1) Schedule for Pick-up August 1st back up day August 2nd. Was notified at 5:30pm August 2nd movers would not arrive till August 3rd at which time I no longer owned the property and my belongings were in someone else's home. (2) Movers arrived late on August 3rd forcing me to leave before completion as my family was already a day ahead of me on a cross country trip as movers missed their pick up schedule. moving nation has been a nightmare , first i had a call from their sales department almost every day until I agreed to use them for my move from California to Texas and paid down payment of $1500.00 then they said they will be at my house on 7/30 and 7/31 two days to pack and load my furniture , they showed up on 7/31 letting me know they would be back the next day to finish up , i explained to them they needed to get done that day because the house needed to be empty by the next day , my biggest mistake was not being there until they finished , I signed more paper work presented to me said it would be to list all my property picked up , cleaning crew went back to clean house and took... This was probably my first move that was completed without a single broken, damaged or lost item. It was obvious from the way the team worked that they care about their job and your belongings. I will be hiring them again.
Moving Nation is a complete scam. Sweet talking and charming up the front, but completely dysfunctional when it comes to operations. Sending two aggressive, surly, tired guys at 7pm to pick up the contents of a 4BRM house was never going to work. No response from the company since; they took the money and ran.
I highly recommend Moving Nation for your next move because they did a very good job on mine and I don’t think such good work can be a fluke. The movers were able to handle all my heavy and oversized furniture and move them over a huge distance without getting a scratch on them. They used carrying and lifting equipment that I’m not familiar with but it basically allowed them to wheel the biggest items right out of the house to their truck without scuffing the floors or banging those things against the walls. This company was rude, unprofessional and is refusing to refund my deposit of $1032 even though I cancelled well before the deadline. I have filed with the BBB, disputed the charge on my credit card and am writing honest reviews anywhere I can. The ONLY places these guys get good reviews or are recommended are on these sites that they pay for! Look at yelp and elsewhere and you will find horrible reviews of them.
I’m not a good writer, reviews or anything else, but I thought I would add my little bit of input after using Moving Nation for my move. Most of it was inspired by the movers we were given (forgotten the names, sorry) who were exceptionally helpful and attentive. They worked fast and were polite to the whole family. I watched them handle and carry our things with the right level of care and effort to make sure that nothing was damaged or broken. The delivery was done right within the time frame we were provided. I am very satisfied.
I really like that Moving Nation is one of the most experienced moving businesses that deliver to Texas. It gives you the confidence to be able to give all the things that you own into their custody without stressing out over whether everything will arrive safe and sound at the destination. While that experience is I think the biggest reason that I chose them, a lot of their appeal also comes down to reasonable costs and a good admin team. Putting all these factors together, I think they are way ahead of the competition.
I am a single mom with very little money who had to move from California to Georgia. When I called for a quote, I was routed from one salesperson (who basically was screening calls) to another salesperson, who kept me on the phone for two hours and seemed very empathetic to my situation. He took a list from me over the phone of the items I needed to have moved. RED FLAG - I never sent in any photos, and nobody ever came to my home to view my belongings, to give me as accurate an estimate as possible. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! They arrived 2 hours late and took 9 hours to load a 1 bedroom apartment and when I asked what is taking so long they said" we get paid by the hour". Then they tried to up charge me for blankets and tape and I had to call customer service to correct them. Then they told me I had more than the 600 cubic feet in the contract, so again I called customer service and said to load everything in the contract first then see what is left over. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! BEWARE!! We did a long distance move from west coast to the east coast. The interaction you have with this company will start off good. But it will quickly decline from the initial low estimate they give you to sign up with them. Not only did we have problems with overcharges, but a hugee delivery delay, new day-of-move charges, charges for tape (that is supposed to be included) and emotional abuse from a manager (Nadine) and a representative (Lisa). Moving Nation understands how stressful moving time is for most people and their assistance during our move made a chaotic and confusing time much more bearable. For that, they have my strongest recommendation. My story: A good promotion uprooted me from Kansas where I have lived for 17 years and plonked me down in California, which I haven’t even visited before. But to complicate matters, I was required to turn up within 2 weeks. Very reliable company that puts a lot of emphasis on communication with customers. All my calls were promptly answered and the people from their office are able to give you crucial information when you ask. There is no beating about the bush when it comes to questions of cost – Moving Nation is definitely not the cheapest option out there but they are completely transparent with their cost calculation and stick to their quotes. I have used several moving companies around the company (this time, I was moving from Texas to new jersey) but never had a better experience than this one.
What I liked most about hiring Moving Nation was that the movers did not waste any time. They knew what they had to do and got right on it. That was the same for the loading and the delivery - both times they managed to finish the job ahead of time. This is the kind of service that you don’t mind paying for. In terms of paying, just be mindful that they are slightly more costly than many of the other companies. If you are looking to save money but risk amateurs handling your prized possessions, that’s your call. Terrible is an understatement ! I called the night before to confirm. Didn't show up! They literally stiffed me on moving day! Sent guys with NO truck, and NO packing material, NO uniforms, NO business cards, NO ID, who offered to buy their own packing material right then and have ME rent a U- Haul .. if I would have wanted to rent my own U-Haul truck, I wouldn't have hired a moving company. Can you say SCAM??? When I went outside to tell the guys I couldn't get a hold of the company, they were gone.
