Veterans United Qualification Requirements

Qualification Requirements - 4.5 / 5

VA loans are a $0 down payment mortgage option available to Veterans, Service Members and select military spouses, are issued by private lenders, and are guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

All prospective borrowers under the VA loan program must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the Veterans Administration. Veterans United may be able to get this document for you.

In order to get a COE, generally speaking, you must:
  • Have 90 consecutive days of active service during wartime, or
  • Have 181 days of service during peacetime, or
  • Six years in the Reserves or National Guard, or
  • Be the spouse of a service member who has died in the line of duty or as a result of an injury sustained in the line of duty

    • Because VA loans are insured by the federal government, credit score typically isn’t as much of a limiting factor as it is with conventional loans, however, it still will play a part.

    If your credit is less than stellar, it would be a good idea to avail yourself of Veterans United’s credit building service. As an active or former service member, the company connects you with credit and VA loan experts free of charge to help get you on track to securing a home.

    Rett & Caytlyn were phenomenal in the entire process! Our home buying experience started out as a pre qualification check just to see if we were ready to build our dream home.     I have had the best service from start to finish. Everyone from Veterans United Home have been attentive, thorough in what had to be done to reach my goal of buying a new home. Chris has been perfect throughout my process. If I had any questions, he would answer me right away or get back to me quickly.     Adam Crutchfield and Nicole Clarkson are simply amazing and a pleasure to work with (2nd home purchase with Adam). This one was a bit tricky - Originally started the process with another lender. Switched to Veterans United because there is no substitute for good customer service, and that is something I have always experienced with VU (although the better rate and cheaper closing costs came in a close 2nd). Switching to Veterans United midway through our home purchase was nerve-wracking, if I were to undersell it. We needed to close within two weeks (closing date was already set).     Working with Veterans United was a pleasure throughout. Everything flowed well except the five days, or so, the underwriter had the file. That five days was brutal with ridiculous requirements and questions, My account managers worked hard to minimize the inconvenience. Carl and Jason did an exceptional job. They make you feel like you're their only client.
