Anthem Coverage

Level of Coverage - 4.9 / 5

Anthem offers health insurance plans for almost every purpose, including Medicare Supplement insurance (also known as "Medigap"). The plans included in its roster are Plans A, F, Innovative F, G, and N. All plans offer the option of adding on vision and dental coverage for an additional monthly premium at various levels. These plans allow policyholders to visit any provider in Medicare's network and covers services not usually covered by basic Medicare. On Anthem's website, consumers are able to compare two plans at a time with Original Medicare's coverage, which aids in determining which level of coverage they will need from their Medigap plan.

Plan Types

  • Plan A - It includes hospital copayment costs up to a year after Medicare benefits are exhausted, the first three pints of blood, Part B coinsurance including preventive care services after deductible, and hospice care.
  • Plan F - Less expensive than other plans, F covers all the same benefits as C, with the addition of 100% of Part B's excess charges.
  • Plan G - Covers almost every Medicare supplemental insurance benefit, with the exception of Part B's annual deductible.
  • Plan N - Covers hospital copayments, Part B co-insurance except $20 for office visits & $50 for emergency visits, first 3 pints of blood, hospital deductible, SNF, foreign care, all of Part B co-insurance for preventive care, and hospice care.

I signed up for Plan G with a start date of July 1, 2021. I paid the annual premium in full and as of today, Oct 13, 2021 they still have NOT delivered a policy booklet so I know how they pay after bills to go Medicare Part B. Further, I set up my account on line and when I log in all I can see is the separate Prescription Drug Plan I by from them. I've called customer service which is HORRIBLE. They have said it will be set up soon, they'll look into it, etc. I was told I should have received a "Welcome Package" but I never did. The rep. said she have one sent out to arrive in 10 business day and that was about 3 weeks ago an nothing yet. Once I was transferred to an IT person after a... Read More

Terrible medicare coverage. When signing up, verified all my doctors were in network. After seeing doctor for first wellness check found out none of my doctors were in network and all bills had to be covered by deductible. Do not sign up unless you PHYSICALLY verify your doctors are in network.

Regardless of what is reported their supplemental plan rates are very high. Just notified that my Plan F was going up to $314 a month and when I tried to change to Plan G with a premium of $175 I was denied. Guess why -- they would be loosing approximately $150 a month from me. This year they didn't pay a penny on me so that is money they made as they do every year since they only pay the 20% medicare doesn't pay. At my age it is very hard to change to any plan so either I forego other things I need and pay the increased rate or I drop my supplemental plan. Social security didn't go up enough to pay for this increase plus the Medicare increase plus the drug plan increase.

Anthem waits until the day before my scheduled MRI to say no. Was on the phone for 2 hours to attempt to resolve this. Was handed off to 3 different departments. When Anthem attempted to contact my doctor with me on the line, they cut me off and never called me back. They do not care about the patient including the pain the patient is in.
