RealEats - Overview

RealEats was initially created by a single father who wanted to help busy people find a way to cook healthy meals for their families without spending a lot of time in the kitchen. The company prepares fresh meals at its licensed facility and vacuum seals them into individual pouches. Customers receive their meals within a couple of days of ordering them. Pouches can be heated in the microwave or by submerging them in boiling water for about 6 minutes. Real Eats pouches stay fresh in the refrigerator for about 7 days. The company does not recommend freezing the pouches because they are meant to be consumed fresh for best taste and optimum nutrition.

RealEats' menus feature dishes from a range of global cuisines. New recipes are added weekly. All ingredients are minimally processed, non-GMO, responsibly-sourced, and never frozen.

Food was good but we had to make a bologna sandwich when finished dinner…. The protein was an ok size although small and the sides were like 3 pieces broccoli or 1/2 cup rice. Come on guys increase the amount of the sides if not anything else….I’m going to have to cancel until there are some improvements.

Quality was fine. It was the quantity that got me, and what made me so mad. The actual meal was half the side of the advertising and would never fill up anyone besides a small kid. The prices here are 10% lower than what they are today, btw. No value for the money.

Food was fine, only few that came undercooked. Meals would more often than not arrive late. When contacted, customer service didn't seem to understand the issue. They had no plans to correct the problem, or apologies to offer. All I would get in response was a canned "We're working with our shipping supplier." and "Let us know if it arrives warm.". Going in to the summer months, I can't trust this service to deliver something that might have food poisoning.

$13.00 per meal, for the 6 meal plan, is just too expensive. I used to get the Freshley meals (I don't know which company was first) and I eventually had to cancel because I had to tighten my budget. A 6 meal plan there came to about $10.00 per meal. (You may want to try that, Dareitus. It's cheaper and they come in a sealed tray that you can pop in the microwave and then eat right out of. No boiling pouches or cleaning dishes. And the food is good.) Anyway, if I could get a plan like these for like $7.00 per meal, then I would definitely go back to it. But that is probably not feasible at the same quality level, I guess.

I suffer from anxiety, depression and PTSD and find even some of the most simple tasks overwhelming. RealEats has provided a way for me to get healthy meals without anxiety inducing trips to the grocery store or overwhelming meal preparation. Conventional plans often went bad in the fridge while I struggled to find the effort to cook them but RealEats is easier to cook than instant ramen. I do wish the portions were a tad larger but the meals are plenty satisfying as is. I can't stress enough how important RealEats has been in helping me eat a healthy diet over the fast food and take out I had been eating (on the nights I didn't just skip dinner all together).
